Job Description Summary
Level 6 will lead the technical development and delivery at Team, Lab and sometimes platform level. They can be a Line Manager who will act as co-lead with the Team PO for overall delivery. In these cases, they will be responsible for overall tech delivery, line management & app ownership alongside their own software engineering output. Others will operate as Individual Contributors, who are specialist experts in particular technology areas and will be narrower and deeper in focus, providing technology leadership, mentoring and guidance.

Design, develop, and maintain complex software applications. Writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices.

Lead code reviews and all aspects of technical delivery to ensure code quality and share knowledge.

Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and processes to ensure the highest quality product platform.

Identify and implement best practices for software development.

Excellent problem solving and analytical skills to resolve complex technical issues and bugs.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers.

Strong understanding of security principles and secure coding practices

Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines

Ensure timely delivery by manging tasks and priorities effectively.

Communicate effectively with team and stakeholders.

Accountable for custodianship governance activities on tech assets*

Line management focussed on effective task allocation and tech delivery

Takes technical responsibility across all stages and iterations of software development. Contributes to the development of organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for software development.

Reviews designs, identifies key issues and recommends possible solutions based on experience. Develops conceptual solution designs that comply with requirements and design standards

Leads team to identify issues and improve automation across the end-to-end application development lifecycle. Uses technology stack and tooling to evolve applications at pace and ensure efficiency, quality and security is monitored as part of every build.

Strong engineering background and coding experience.

Proven leadership and stakeholder management skills.

Experience in supplier management, cost control, and risk management.
