With approximately 100 million customers worldwide using products such as TurboTax, Credit Karma, QuickBooks, and Mailchimp, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to prosper. We never stop working to find new, innovative ways to make that possible.

Job Overview

Intuit is a global technology platform that helps consumers and small businesses overcome their most important financial challenges. We serve over 50 million customers worldwide across TurboTax, QuickBooks, Credit Karma, and Mailchimp.

We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer (Mobile) to help shape the technical direction, architecture, and quality bar of TurboTax Mobile, one of Intuit’s most critical consumer experiences.

TurboTax Mobile operates at massive scale in a highly seasonal, customer-critical environment where reliability, performance, and trust are paramount.

In this role, you will be a senior technical authority across iOS and Android platforms. You will drive architectural decisions, influence platform strategy, mentor senior engineers, and partner closely with Product, Design, Data, and Platform teams. This is a highly hands-on role for engineers who enjoy solving complex problems and raising the technical bar across teams and organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and architectural direction for TurboTax Mobile across iOS and Android.
  • Define and uphold engineering standards for architecture, reliability, performance, security, testing, and release practices.
  • Drive cross-platform consistency and parity while leveraging platform-specific strengths.
  • Lead design and implementation of large-scale mobile systems that operate reliably during peak tax season.
  • Identify and proactively mitigate systemic technical risks, including dependency management and operational resiliency.
  • Partner closely with Product, Design, Data, Identity, and Platform teams to influence roadmap decisions and technical tradeoffs.
  • Act as a hands-on problem solver for the most complex technical challenges, including production incidents and root cause analyses.
  • Mentor and coach senior and staff engineers, providing guidance through design reviews and technical feedback.
  • Influence technical decisions beyond mobile by contributing to broader Consumer Platform initiatives.
  • Champion a culture of engineering excellence, ownership, and operational rigor.

Qualifications

Required

  • 12+ years of software engineering experience with deep expertise in mobile application development.
  • Proven experience as a technical leader on large-scale consumer mobile applications.
  • Strong expertise in iOS (Swift/Objective-C) and/or Android (Kotlin/Java), with the ability to influence both platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience leading architecture and design for complex, distributed systems.
  • Strong understanding of mobile performance optimization, observability, CI/CD pipelines, testing strategies, and release management.
  • Experience operating in customer-critical, high-availability systems, including incident response and prevention.

Preferred

  • Experience in FinTech, SaaS, or regulated environments with high quality and security standards.
  • Experience driving cross-team and cross-organization technical alignment.
  • Familiarity with feature flags, experimentation frameworks, and progressive rollout strategies.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence senior engineering and product leaders.
