Principal System Engineer

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Operations & Architecture Specialist with strong experience in AWS and Azure platforms. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability, scalability, security, and operational excellence. This role involves working closely with cross‑functional teams to support ongoing cloud transformation initiatives, optimize cloud resources, and ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations.

The candidate should have solid hands-on experience with cloud architecture best practices, operate, automation, monitoring, DevOps concepts, and enterprise-grade cloud governance.

Key Responsibilities:

1.Cloud Architecture & Design

• Design and implement scalable, secure, and resilient cloud architecture on AWS and Azure.

• Create reference architectures, solution blueprints, and cloud migration strategies.

• Evaluate existing infrastructure and recommend modernization or re-architecture plans.

2. Cloud Operations Management

• Manage day-to-day cloud operations including provisioning, monitoring, backups, and incident resolution.

• Ensure operational performance, availability, and reliability of cloud-based workloads.

• Implement automation using tools such as Terraform, ARM templates, CloudFormation, or Ansible.

• Support containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, EKS, AKS).

3. Security, Compliance, and Governance

• Apply industry best practices for cloud security, identity & access management, and network protection.

• Maintain compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.

• Configure cloud governance tools such as AWS Organizations, Azure Policy, and cost management.

4. Monitoring & Optimization

• Implement proactive monitoring using CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, or

• third-party tools.

• Optimize cloud performance, capacity, and cost efficiency.

• Conduct regular health checks and performance assessments.

5. Cloud Migration & Transformation

• Execute cloud migration projects from on-premise or legacy environments.

• Drive modernization initiatives including serverless, microservices, and PaaS adoption.

• Provide technical leadership during project planning, execution, and cutover.

6. Documentation & Knowledge Sharing

• Maintain accurate cloud architecture diagrams, runbooks, and SOPs.

• Provide training and support to internal teams on cloud operations and best practices.

• Participate in architecture review boards and technical assessments.

Deliverables / Expected Outcomes:

1-Cloud Architecture Designs & Documentation

• Review and Complete solution architecture diagrams for AWS and Azure workloads.

• Updated reference architecture and technical design documents

2-Stable & Optimized Cloud Environments

• Highly available, scalable and secure cloud infrastructure running in production.

• Optimization reports covering cost, performance, and resource utilization.

3- Operational & Procedures

• Incident response runbooks for cloud services.

• Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for deployments, maintenance, and recovery.

• Automated backup, monitoring, DR and patching processes

• Configured dashboards (CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Grafana).

• Monthly health, cost, and performance reports.

• Implemented IAM standards, policies, and least privilege access.

Job Requirements:

• 8+ years of experience as a system engineer including at least 5 years in a senior role
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field
