Primary Job Purpose

The Principal Technical Expert – AI Factory is a strategic leadership position responsible for establishing Artificial Intelligence as a core competitive capability within the Bank. Reporting to the IT General Manager through the IT Technology Factory structure, this role drives the vision, architecture, and execution of enterprise-wide AI initiatives while building and leading a world-class technical team. The position bridges innovation and operations, ensuring AI solutions deliver measurable business value while maintaining the highest standards for governance, security, and ethical compliance.

The job holder must have solid skills, knowledge and understanding of artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science and emerging technologies, combined with expert-level strategic thinking and exceptional leadership capabilities. The role requires the ability to analyse complex technical challenges, architect scalable solutions, drive organizational transformation, and ensure implemented systems meet enterprise security, performance, and compliance benchmarks, while delivering value on time and within budget.

Job Roles & Responsibilities:

AI Strategy, Planning & Management

AI Strategy & Governance

• Develop comprehensive AI strategy aligned with Bank's objectives and IT strategic roadmap
• Define governance frameworks, ethical guidelines, and risk management protocols for AI initiatives
• Establish AI policies on data usage, model validation, bias mitigation, and regulatory compliance
• Develop 3-year AI roadmap with clear milestones, KPIs, and resource requirements
• Manage budget allocation and resource optimization across AI Factory programs
• Track and report on AI program outcomes, ROI, and strategic impact to IT leadership

Technical Architecture & Systems

Architecture & Infrastructure

• Design and oversee enterprise AI architecture, platforms, and infrastructure aligned with IT standards
• Lead technical decisions on AI frameworks, tools, and technology stack
• Ensure scalability, performance, security, and reliability of AI systems across enterprise
• Establish best practices for model development, deployment, and monitoring
• Evaluate and integrate emerging AI technologies and methodologies
• Lead proof-of-concept projects and pilot programs to test new AI applications

Team Building & Leadership

Talent Management

• Recruit and attract top AI talent across multiple technical domains
• Build high-performing AI Factory teams with clear career progression paths
• Mentor and develop technical specialists and emerging technical leaders
• Evaluate performance and recommend developmental needs for team members
• Foster culture of continuous learning, innovation, and technical excellence
• Maintain and promote positive work culture and employee engagement

Stakeholder Management & Communication

Internal Interactions

• Serve as primary technical advisor to IT General Manager and steering committee on AI matters
• Build relationships with business unit leaders to identify high-impact AI use cases
• Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences across the Bank
• Champion AI adoption and drive organizational change management initiatives
• Participate in cross-functional committees and IT steering groups

External Representation

• Maintain collaboration with AI vendors, technology partners, and system integrators
• Build partnerships with academic institutions and AI thought leaders
• Represent the Bank at industry conferences, AI forums, and technology events

Job Specifications

E ducational Qualification(s)

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field

Experience

• Minimum 10 years of experience required in AI or related field.
