Job Title: Principal Electrical Engineer – Onshore Oil & Gas (In-House Projects)

Role Overview
A leading EPC organization is seeking a highly experienced Principal Electrical Engineer to support in-house onshore oil & gas projects across the full project lifecycle, including PRE-FEED, FEED, and Detailed Design. The role requires a senior-level electrical engineering professional with deep onshore oil & gas experience, capable of acting as a technical authority and leading multidisciplinary electrical teams on large, complex facilities such as gas processing plants, refineries, terminals, and onshore production facilities. This is a hands-on technical leadership role, combining advanced electrical design expertise with team leadership and project execution responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
Onshore Electrical Engineering Leadership

Act as the Principal / Technical Authority for Electrical Engineering on onshore oil & gas projects.

Lead the electrical discipline through PRE-FEED, FEED, and Detailed Design phases.

Review, approve, and ensure the quality and accuracy of all electrical engineering deliverables.

Provide expert guidance on onshore electrical design challenges, including hazardous areas, large-scale power systems, and plant-wide electrical integration.
Project Execution & Technical Assurance

Support project execution teams to ensure safe, compliant, and cost-effective delivery of onshore projects.

Ensure compliance with international and local standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC, API, etc.) and client specifications.

Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, HAZID/HAZOP studies, and technical audits.

Review and approve vendor technical documents, electrical equipment specifications, and datasheets for onshore facilities.
Team Leadership & Discipline Management

Lead, manage, and mentor a team of electrical engineers and designers.

Assign work, monitor progress, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality discipline outputs.

Provide technical oversight, coaching, and development support to discipline engineers.

Support discipline manpower planning and capability development activities.
Client & Stakeholder Interface

Act as the primary electrical engineering point of contact with clients, vendors, and third-party consultants.

Provide technical input to proposals, bids, cost estimates, and execution strategies when required.

Represent the organization in technical meetings related to onshore electrical engineering scope.
Technical Expertise (Onshore Focused)

Onshore HV & LV power generation and distribution systems
-
Electrical equipment specification and sizing for large onshore facilities

Hazardous area classification and electrical design for process plants
-
Earthing, bonding, and lightning protection systems
-
Electrical integration with process units, utilities, and infrastructure

Use of electrical engineering tools and systems common to onshore EPC projects
Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.

Minimum 17+ years of electrical engineering design experience within the Oil & Gas industry.

Minimum 10+ years of onshore oil & gas project experience, including large processing plants, refineries, gas facilities, terminals, or similar onshore assets.

Proven experience across PRE-FEED, FEED, and Detailed Design phases.

At least 5 years in a Lead / Principal / Discipline Lead role, managing teams of electrical engineers and designers.

Strong experience working within EPC / EPCM organizations on large onshore oil & gas projects.
