Print Production Artist / Graphic Designer

We are looking for a Graphic Designer to join our small and dynamic team!

Global Printing & Packaging was founded in 1965, however we've morphed into more than just a regular printing company. We currently produce handbook/student planners for K-12, colleges, and universities across the U.S., as well as planners, office products, travel items, home decor, and many other items that are sold both in store, and online at major retailers.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Experience: 5+ Years
Position: Full Time, Permanent
Location: On Site

Candidates must have a strong print background, highly-proficient technical skills, solid design sense, and the ability to work on a wide range of projects. It is a fast-paced environment where priorities can change daily, so excellent organizational and communication skills are also musts.

The position is a mix of print production and design:
Print Production: 80%
Design: 20%

SKILLS

SOFTWARE
High Proficiency: Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat.
Bonus Skills: Enfocus Pitstop, Microsoft Office

PRINT FILE SETUP
Must know how to prepare files for print, including setting up proper bleed and colors. Our print files range from 1-6 colors and can include Pantone spot colors, foil stamping, and spot coatings.

FILE PREFLIGHT
We receive many files from outside sources, most of which are not professionally done. So we need someone experienced with diagnosing, fixing, and sometimes recreating files to make them print ready.

DESIGN
At a minimum, we need someone with a good eye and the ability to create professional-looking designs. The more creative the better.

DUTIES

• Long Document Creation: Create student handbook/planners for colleges and universities, which can be up to 200+ pages. This mostly involves taking the customer's submitted files and converting the colors, fixing bleeds, and placing their files into an InDesign document. Sometimes this might involve light formatting of Microsoft Word documents, so some experience with Word and other Office programs is helpful. There is also a calendar/planning section that you update.
• Packaging Design: Design packaging for internal products and external customers.
• Cover Design: Design book covers for our planners.
• Website Image Creation: Create images for internal websites, and also product listing images for major e-commerce websites.
• Instruction Sheets: Create instruction sheets for our products.
• Other duties as required.
