Job title: Printing Technician/Packager

Position Compensation: $18.00/hr

Employment terms: Full Time – Non-Exempt

5 x 8 Monday - Fridays

We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Label/Printer Technician to support our packaging operations by managing label printing, maintaining label printers, and ensuring all printed materials meet quality and compliance standards. This role requires strong technical skills, organization, and the ability to troubleshoot common printing issues efficiently.

In addition to primary printing responsibilities, this position will also support the packaging team as needed. Secondary tasks include assisting with packaging operations such as gramming, capping, labeling, and box assembly to ensure production goals and quality standards are consistently met.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • The Label/Printer Technician's daily role and responsibility is to help support the packaging teams daily production with printed labels. Maintain printing and PDF creation. Daily communication with the packaging and graphic design department. Logging daily data associated with printing. In addition to their principal duties, the Printing Technician position is expected to be able to consistently package at a rate that will meet the established KPIs for each assigned packaging task, and to maintain GMP standards for all packaging areas as instructed by the Packaging Manager, Packaging Supervisor, and all Packaging Technician levels II

Primary Duties (including, but not limited to):

  • Set up, operate, and maintain label printers (e.g., Afinia, Zebra, or other industrial printers).
  • Print approved product labels according to daily production schedules and ensure accuracy.
  • Monitor print quality, label alignment, and ink levels throughout each print job.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve printer errors, jams, and mechanical issues promptly.
  • Maintain printing software (Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Reader and Bartender) for formatting and design adjustments.
  • Create PDF files using Adobe illustrator
  • Use Google Sheets and Docs for label logs, order tracking, and daily reporting.
  • Communicate with packaging and production teams to ensure label needs are met.
  • Track label inventory and notify leads or management when supplies are low.
  • Packaging of vape cartridges:
  • 510 thread platform
  • Disposable vape platform
  • AIO - All-In-Ones
  • Tasks within vape packaging (varies depending on the platform):
  • Blister packing and labeling of pre-filled pods, delivery of the fully packaged units to Distribution & Fulfillment.
  • Filling & capping of vape cartridges
  • Placing the filled & capped cartridges into assembled boxes.
  • Tampering and tubing or units.
  • Labeling of packaged boxes to ensure that all compliance and marketing information is properly and professionally displayed on each unit.
  • Assembling, packaging, and labeling of mastercase units for delivery to Distribution & Fulfillment.
  • Packaging of concentrates:
  • Live resin budder, HTE, HCE, diamonds, sauce, sugar, crumble, shatter, etc.
  • Live rosin fresh press, cold cure batter, jam, etc.
  • Tasks within concentrates packaging (varies depending on the product format and brand):
  • Pre-packaging jar inspections and clean-out for quality control.
  • Weighing out cannabis concentrates and packaging these weighed amounts into vials/jars.
  • Jar inspections and capping.
  • Labeling of jar lids with branding labels.
  • Labeling of jar bases with compliance and strain labels.
  • Shrink wrapping of packaged and labeled concentrate jars.
  • Box assembly.
  • Placing of the packaged and labeled concentrate jars into the assembled boxes.
  • Labeling of packaged boxes to ensure that all compliance and marketing information is properly and professionally displayed on each unit.
  • Assembling, packaging, and labeling of mastercase units for delivery to Distribution & Fulfillment.
  • Packaging of edibles:
  • Gummies, chocolates, beverages, tinctures, etc.
  • Tasks within edibles packaging (varies depending on the product):
  • Receiving units from production when ready for packaging.
  • Packaging varying #s of pieces into varying container styles (poptops, blister packs, mylar bags, etc.
  • Labeling of packaged units to ensure that all compliance and marketing information is properly displayed on each unit.
  • Weighing of fully packaged and labeled units to confirm # of units packaged.
  • Assembling, packaging, and labeling of mastercase units for deliver to Distribution & Fulfillment.
  • General support functions within the Packaging production areas.
  • Cleaning of the general working area associated with your shift
  • Work well and effectively with fellow co-workers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervision received: Lead Packaging Supervisor, Packaging Supervisor, Supervision given: N/A

Evaluation process: 30, 60, & 90-day evaluations as well as annual reviews following this initial evaluation period.

Qualifications:

  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to pass a background screening for employment within the CA cannabis industry after the company makes a conditional job offer.
  • Have proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Acrobat/Reader and Bartender.
  • Have strong attention to detail and organizational skills for data entry tasks.
  • Familiarity with Google sheets and Google Docs.
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently to meet daily printing demands.
  • Any specific education or experience working with cannabis packaging, assembly line production within any industry, general chemistry, or within a lab environment is preferred, but not required.
  • Direct experience working in a laboratory, commercial kitchen, or similar GMP production setting.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain internal inventory records.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience operating or maintaining label printers is a plus.
  • Requires fast paced

  • 40 hrs. per week minimum, additional hrs. as needed by the production schedule.

  • Excellent time management skills – must plan two to eight weeks in advance, depending upon the directions given by the department managers.
