Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and client-centric Private Mortgage Banker to join our Private Bank team. In this specialized role, you will serve as the primary mortgage expert for high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners, originating and structuring sophisticated residential and non-traditional mortgage solutions while driving significant growth in loan production and overall client wallet share.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively source and acquire new high-net-worth mortgage clients through personal networks, referrals, real estate professionals, and targeted outreach.
- Drive measurable growth in loan production volume, quality, and profitability while expanding client relationships through cross-selling of deposits, investments, and other private banking services.
- Build and maintain deep, trust-based relationships with affluent clients by understanding their complex financial circumstances, real estate goals, and liquidity needs.
- Originate, structure, and close a portfolio of residential mortgages, including jumbo, non-QM, portfolio, bridge, construction-to-permanent, and custom lending solutions tailored to sophisticated borrowers.
- Achieve and exceed assigned targets for loan origination volume, revenue, client acquisition, and cross-sell penetration.
- Conduct thorough financial analysis, ensure strong credit quality and regulatory compliance, and manage pipeline and closing processes efficiently.
- Collaborate closely with internal partners (e.g., private bankers, relationship managers, credit underwriting, wealth planning, and title/closing teams) to deliver seamless, high-touch mortgage experiences.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, real estate, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certifications a plus.
- 8+ years of mortgage lending experience with a strong focus on jumbo, and non-traditional/private banking mortgage products; prior private banking or wealth management mortgage experience highly preferred.
- Active mortgage loan originator (MLO) license (NMLS) in good standing required.
- Deep knowledge of residential mortgage products, underwriting guidelines (agency, non-agency, portfolio), pricing strategies, and regulatory requirements (TRID, RESPA, Reg Z, etc.).
- Proven track record of originating high-balance loans, meeting production goals, and cultivating long-term client relationships.
- Exceptional sales, negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and advise high-net-worth clients.
- Results-driven with strong organizational skills and proficiency in mortgage origination systems, CRM tools, and financial analysis software.
