We have the following teaching positions opening up at Liberty Music Academy:

1. Friday On-Site Instructor

Specifically, we need a voice/piano instructor every Monday from 3:30-8:30pm starting 1/9/2026 at our on-site location. If you teach more instruments than that, we are more than happy to broaden this studio, but we at least need beginner-intermediate voice and piano covered. (Please Note: we're temporarily partnering with The Village Church at 7224 Old Burkitt Rd, Antioch, TN 37013 for our on-site instruction while we search for LMA’s next long-term space). We plan on staying within 5-10 minutes of this area when we transition into our permanent space.

One thing to note—our on-site program includes one Group Class Week each month, where students do NOT meet for private lessons. This means you will not teach these weeks unless you are scheduled to teach group Performance or Industry classes.

Please note that this is a TEACHER TRANSITION. As of now, you'd be taking over for the following students:
3:30-4:00 - OPEN
4:00-4:30 - 7 year old female beginner piano
4:30-5:00 - 12 year old female intermediate piano
5:00-5:30 - 9 year old female beginner piano
5:30-6:00 - OPEN
6:00-6:30 - 5 year old male beginner piano
6:30-8:30 - OPEN

While our goal is to fill our teachers' rosters consistently, please note that retention may fluctuate seasonally as new students enroll or current clients discontinue.

Requirements:

  • Must have a positive and welcoming demeanor and good people skills, especially with youth and their parents.
  • Must have a clean background check.
  • Must be consistently available for on-site lessons on a weekly basis during contracted hours.
  • Must have experience teaching the needed instruments privately at all levels in a wide range of genres to ages 5-18.

Compensation & Hours:
Our instructors are expected to be available consistently during their contracted hours, keeping in mind that student retention will fluctuate seasonally and affect studio numbers.

  • Our on-site instructors are paid $30/teaching hour (private lessons) and $45/teaching hour (group classes).
  • All other staff commitments (onboarding, recitals, showcases, staff meetings, etc.) are paid at $20/hr.
  • We require at least 2 weeks' notice for time off requests - while we do our best to be flexible regarding time off, please keep in mind that we do expect our teachers to be consistent and reduce time off requests to a minimum. We expect our teachers to be present the two weeks before our bi-yearly recitals (if they have students performing) and cannot approve time off requests during this period.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engaging music lesson plans tailored to individual student needs.
  • Foster a positive learning environment through effective classroom management techniques.
  • Assess student progress and adapt curriculum periodically to enhance learning.
  • Encourage creativity, self-expression, and engagement in students through various musical activities, including songwriting, music technology, composition, etc.
  • Give students a strong foundation in music fundamentals, including music theory, aural skills, and rhythm reading.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and admin regarding student development and performance through consistent attendance taking, lesson note submission, and in-person check-ins.
  • Attend quarterly staff meetings to collaborate on program development and student success.
