Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated PRN Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical background with experience in various care settings, demonstrating a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care. As a PRN LVN, you will provide essential nursing services in diverse environments, ensuring patient safety and comfort while adhering to established protocols and standards.
Duties
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and health history documentation.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following prescribed orders while maintaining strict compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with IV infusion therapy, catheterization, wound care, and other specialized nursing procedures.
- Monitor patients' conditions closely, recognizing signs of deterioration or complications such as acute pain or infectious disease symptoms.
- Provide patient education on medication management, disease processes such as dementia or Alzheimer's care, and health coaching strategies.
- Support discharge planning and coordinate with family members or caregivers to ensure continuity of care in home or community settings.
- Maintain sterile technique and infection control standards during all procedures while ensuring patient safety at all times.
Requirements
- Valid LVN license in the state of practice with current CPR/BLS certification.
- Proven experience in diverse clinical environments such as long-term care facilities, hospitals (including ICU or trauma centers), hospice, or home health settings.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for accurate medical documentation.
- Knowledge of ICD-9/10 coding, CPT coding, and medical terminology relevant to acute care, geriatrics, pediatrics, and behavioral health.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or cognitive impairments like dementia or Alzheimer's disease.
- Ability to perform venipuncture, phlebotomy, sterile processing techniques, and specimen collection/processing efficiently.
- Strong assessment skills combined with physiology knowledge to evaluate patient conditions effectively.
- Excellent communication skills coupled with the ability to work independently in various settings including outpatient clinics or inpatient units.
