We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Probate Paralegal to join our dynamic legal team. Duties
- Drafting and file probate petitions, notices, estate inventories, accountings, and related legal documents with courts and administrative agencies.
- Filing documents with the court and monitoring case dockets for deadlines and required actions.
- Review and organize legal documents using document management systems such as MyCase and LexisNexis for accuracy and completeness.
- Communicating with personal representatives, beneficiaries, financial institutions, and other parties to obtain necessary information and provide case updates.
- Collecting, organizing, and maintaining estate records, including asset documentation, creditor claims, expenses, and receipts.
- Manage case files efficiently from inception through resolution, ensuring deadlines are met and documentation is properly maintained.
- Coordinate tasks with attorneys to ensure estates progress efficiently and in compliance with Florida probate rules.
- Support attorneys in litigation matters related to estate disputes or contested probate cases by preparing pleadings and conducting legal research on relevant areas such as family law or securities law.
- Manage calendars, deadlines and follow-up tasks for each probate matter.
- Assisting with administration/reception duties.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of probate procedures along with familiarity in estate planning, trust administration, UCC law.
- Proficiency in legal case management software MyCase and document storage like DropBox.
- Strong project management skills to prioritize tasks effectively while managing multiple cases simultaneously.
- Excellent research abilities utilizing Westlaw and LexisNexis to gather pertinent legal information swiftly.
- Exceptional writing skills for drafting clear legal documents such as pleadings, reports, and correspondence.
- Detail-oriented with outstanding proofreading and transcription skills to ensure accuracy in all filings.
- Superior organizational skills combined with administrative experience supporting law office operations.
- Effective interviewing techniques to elicit comprehensive information from clients and while demonstrating professional etiquette.
