Being a member of the Process Technology & Solutions (PT&S) group is an exciting and challenging opportunity to work with many DuPont businesses on a variety of technical and business issues. The successful Process Modeling and Engineering Evaluation (PM&EE) engineer helps the team by envisioning, defining and assessing the commercialization of an idea, simultaneously answering the questions - "Is the idea technically feasible?", “What does it take for the opportunity to be technically feasible?”, "How does the idea impact the environment?", "What is the idea worth?", and “What are the key technology items and uncertainties impacting commercial viability?”. Depending on the business need, the PM&EE engineer may identify technical options, define commercial process concepts, model process concepts, prepare heat & material balances and flowsheets for a process, develop sustainability assessments, prepare preliminary equipment specifications for investment estimates, estimate manufacturing costs, prepare financial analyses and assess business risk. Evaluation and modeling results are used for selecting among manufacturing options, guiding research and development, and supporting strategic business decisions.

The current PT&S group comprises over a dozen engineers who work with all different businesses throughout DuPont. The PT&S consultants work side by side with manufacturing technology scientists, site operations, capital engineering teams and other leveraged engineering consultants who excel in such specialties as separations technology, process modeling, fluid flow, and thermodynamics, thereby creating a stimulating and collaborative environment. The variety of programs provide opportunities not only to work across DuPont’s businesses and platforms, but to interface with external stakeholders for engagement (working with customers, trade associations, regulators, NGOs, professional organizations, etc.) in both the technology and product/process development arenas.
