Procurement Engineer

Job Summary

Under the guidance of the Department Manager, the Procurement Engineer is responsible for managing procurement activities, materials planning, logistics coordination, and warehouse operations for project sites. The role ensures efficient procurement processes, cost control, and compliance with the company’s Quality Management, Environmental Management, and Occupational Health & Safety (EHS) systems. The Procurement Engineer will support project operations by ensuring the timely availability of materials, equipment, and construction resources while maintaining effective supplier coordination and risk management.

Key Responsibilities Procurement & Materials Management

  • Prepare and manage the material plan, self-purchase plan, and machinery/equipment mobilization plan as required by project and client specifications.
  • Oversee procurement activities including sourcing, purchasing, transportation, customs clearance, inspection, and testing of equipment and materials.
  • Coordinate the mobilization and demobilization of machines, tools, and materials according to project schedules.
  • Manage unloading, unpacking, inspection, handover, storage, and distribution of owner-supplied materials.
  • Ensure the effective implementation of the project material management system.
  • Control procurement budgets and ensure cost-effective purchasing of materials and equipment.
  • Identify procurement risks and implement cost control and risk mitigation strategies.

Warehouse & Equipment Management

  • Manage on-site warehouse operations, including material storage, inventory control, distribution, and maintenance.
  • Oversee leasing and coordination of construction machinery and tools required for project execution.
  • Manage the project department’s equipment and tools in accordance with company regulations.
  • Monitor the recovery, return, and proper handling of construction materials after project use.

Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Responsibilities

  • Ensure all personnel understand their responsibility to report unsafe acts and unsafe conditions.
  • Report accidents and near-miss incidents immediately in accordance with company and client procedures.
  • Ensure tools, equipment, and machinery are maintained in safe working condition and inspected by the EHS department.
  • Promote safety awareness and compliance within the procurement and warehouse teams.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and use of construction chemicals in accordance with their MSDS.
  • Ensure safe storage and handling of materials, equipment, and tools in compliance with safety standards.

Coordination & Working Relationships

  • Coordinate with site engineers and safety officers to ensure safe transportation and stacking of materials.
  • Communicate with the contracts and project departments regarding procurement requirements, supplier coordination, and logistics planning.
  • Support project teams to ensure timely material availability and operational efficiency.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide training and guidance to department staff to enhance procurement and material management competencies.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Minimum 4+ years of UAE experience in procurement, material management, or construction project coordination.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement procedures, logistics operations, and supplier management.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards and EHS management systems.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, MS Office, and procurement software.
  • Immediate joiners preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED8,000.00 - AED12,000.00 per month
