Procurement Engineer

Position: Procurement Engineer - Solar Sector

We are seeking a proactive and detail‑oriented Procurement Engineer to join our growing solar division. This role will drive strategic sourcing, supplier management, and procurement execution across solar projects from permitting through commissioning. The ideal candidate combines technical understanding of solar systems with strong commercial acumen to deliver competitive, reliable, and compliant procurement outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies for PV modules, inverters, BOS components, mounting systems, cables, and balance of system equipment aligned with project timelines and budget.
  • Identify, evaluate, and select qualified suppliers; lead RFQs, bids, negotiations, and award recommendations.
  • Perform total cost of ownership analysis, risk assessments, and supplier risk mitigation planning.
  • Negotiate contracts and terms, including lead times, payment terms, warranties, and service Level Agreements; manage contract lifecycle and amendments.
  • Collaborate with engineering, project management, and legal teams to ensure design for procurement, standardization, and compliance with industry standards and local regulations.
  • Monitor supplier performance through KPIs, conduct regular scorecards, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Drive procurement planning, demand forecasting, and inventory optimization to support project schedules and reducing working capital.
  • Ensure ethical sourcing, sustainability considerations, and compliance with environmental and safety requirements.
  • Support supplier onboarding, onboarding documentation, and supplier development initiatives to enhance cost, quality, and delivery performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of procurement experience, with demonstrated exposure to solar or renewable energy projects; nuts-and-bolts understanding of PV modules, inverters, cables, racking, and balance-of-system components preferred.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and data‑driven decision-making skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration abilities; ability to work in a fast‑paced project environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of local regulatory and import/export requirements, customs procedures, and risk management practices.
