Procurement Executive (Yarn)

What your typical day will look like

  • Identify and develop new yarn suppliers (domestic and international) based on quality, reliability, and cost
  • Source various types of yarns (cotton, polyester, blends, specialty yarns) in line with product and customer requirements
  • Monitor market trends and forecast yarn price movements to inform sourcing decisions.
  • Establish strong working relationships with key yarn suppliers to ensure timely deliveries, quality compliance, and cost-effectiveness
  • Conduct regular vendor evaluations and audits
  • Maintain yarn position and yarn ageing reports and discuss with management regularly
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to achieve cost savings without compromising quality
  • Work closely with the finance team to ensure yarn procurement aligns with budget targets
  • Collaborate with sales, production, and R&D teams to understand yarn requirements and timelines
  • Provide timely support to the marketing team by ensuring the availability of yarn samples and technical specifications
  • Ensure all sourced yarns meet internal and client quality standards
  • Handle yarn complains (both local and imported) and help to resolve efficiently
  • Maintain inventory of yarn and smooth supply of all required yarns to fulfil demand
  • Stay updated on sustainability and compliance regulations in textile sourcing

What you need to succeed at this role

  • Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field and relevant certifications in procurement/supply chain are a plus
