Job Purpose:
The Procurement Head – Fabric is responsible for leading and managing all fabric sourcing and procurement activities, ensuring the timely availability of high-quality materials at optimal costs. The role focuses on strategic vendor development, cost control, and aligning purchasing processes with production, sales, and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:1. Strategic Procurement Planning
- Develop and execute a comprehensive procurement strategy for woven, knitted, coated, and specialty fabrics.
- Forecast material requirements based on production, design, and sales plans.
- Align procurement schedules with production timelines and seasonal demand.
2. Vendor Development & Management
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable mills, suppliers, and fabric manufacturers.
- Build and maintain long-term vendor relationships to ensure consistent quality and supply.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery timelines, credit terms, and technical specifications.
- Conduct vendor performance evaluations and quality audits periodically.
3. Cost Optimization & Budget Control
- Drive cost reduction initiatives through strategic sourcing and supplier consolidation.
- Monitor fabric price trends, import costs, and currency fluctuations.
- Prepare procurement budgets and ensure adherence to financial targets.
4. Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all procured fabrics meet Zeel’s quality, durability, and compliance standards.
- Coordinate with the Quality Assurance team for inspection and approval processes.
- Ensure compliance with sustainability, environmental, and legal norms in sourcing.
5. Coordination with Internal Teams
- Collaborate closely with Design, Production, Merchandising, and Supply Chain teams to understand fabric needs.
- Ensure smooth coordination between fabric availability, production schedules, and order fulfillment.
- Provide technical support regarding fabric specifications, testing, and applications.
6. Market Research & Innovation
- Keep updated with fabric innovations, finishes, and new material technologies.
- Track competitor sourcing trends and identify new markets or supplier bases (domestic and international).
- Participate in fabric fairs, expos, and sourcing events to explore new supply opportunities.
7. Process Improvement & System Implementation
- Implement procurement SOPs, documentation standards, and ERP-based workflows.
- Ensure transparency and traceability in all purchase transactions.
- Continuously improve procurement efficiency and supplier performance metrics.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of textile manufacturing and fabric types (cotton, polyester, blends, PVC-coated, etc.).
- Strong vendor network and negotiation skills.
- Analytical mindset with a focus on cost, quality, and timelines.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in ERP / SAP systems and Microsoft Office.
- Strategic and commercial thinking with attention to detail.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Textile Technology / Textile Engineering / Supply Chain Management (MBA preferred).
- Minimum 12–18 years of experience in fabric procurement or sourcing within the textile or apparel manufacturing industry, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience in managing large-scale fabric sourcing and vendor development.

Pay: ₹2,000,000.00 - ₹2,500,000.00 per year
