Overview
Seeking an experienced, self-starter and highly organized Procurement Manager to join our team. This role is responsible for developing sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring compliance with U.S. defense procurement regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in defense or aerospace procurement, with a focus on cost control, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of procurement experience, preferably in the defense or aerospace industry, for build-to-print or build-to-spec items (not only off-the-shelf-components)
- Must have expereince in manufacturing and familair with FDAR, DAR, ITAR
- Strong knowledge of U.S. government procurement regulations and compliance standards.
- Live near or Willing to relocate to Stafford, VA- this is an on-site full-time position.
- Proven success with US suppliers & contract negotiations
Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management:
- Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers to meet technical, quality, and cost requirements.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to ensure optimal value.
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to support long-term business goals.
Procurement Operations:
- Manage the full procurement lifecycle from requisition to purchase order issuance and supplier delivery tracking.
- Identify suppliers and obtain proposals for build-to-print and/or build-to-spec items.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and finance teams to align procurement with project timelines and budgets.
- Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
Compliance & Documentation:
- Ensure adherence to U.S. government procurement regulations (ITAR, FAR/DFARS).
- Maintain accurate procurement records, contracts, and audit-ready documentation.
- Support internal and external audits related to procurement activities.
Process Improvement:
- Continuously evaluate and improve procurement processes, tools, and systems.
- Implement best practices in sourcing, cost reduction, and risk mitigation.
- Transition from Development to Production:
- Lead procurement efforts during the transition of products from development to full-scale production.
- Ensure procurement strategies support scalability, manufacturability, and cost-efficiency.
Basic Engineering Skills:
- Interpret technical drawings, PCBA schematics, and engineering documentation to support sourcing decisions.
- Collaborate effectively with engineering teams to understand technical requirements and constraints.
