Objective:
Manage end-to-end procurement and materials management activities to support production, project execution, inventory optimization, and supplier performance in a steel fabrication, Refrigerated Body manufacturing and manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Plan, procure, and control all raw materials, consumables, and bought-out items required for production of transport solutions, static equipment, and refrigerated bodies.

Ensure timely availability of materials to avoid production delays and maintain project schedules.

Monitor inventory levels, stock accuracy, and material movements to minimize shortages, excess stock, slow-moving items, and wastage.

Coordinate with Production, Engineering, QA/QC, Projects, and Stores for effective material planning and scheduling.

Develop, evaluate, and strengthen supplier and subcontractor relationships to ensure quality, delivery reliability, technical capability, and competitive pricing.

Lead vendor development initiatives by identifying alternate suppliers, improving supplier performance, and supporting localization opportunities where feasible.

Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules to achieve cost optimization and procurement efficiency.

Implement Lean practices in materials management, stores, and procurement processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, optimize inventory, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Analyze material consumption trends, inventory aging, and procurement KPIs to support management decision-making and cost control.

Ensure proper storage, preservation, traceability, and handling of materials in compliance with quality, safety, and company standards.
Educational Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

Years of Experience: 15 - 20 Years

Field of Experience: Procurement, Supply Chain, and Materials Management experience in Steel Fabrication, Heavy Engineering, Manufacturing, Static Equipment, Transport Solutions, Trailer & Tanker Manufacturing, and Industrial Projects.
Skills and Competencies:

Strong knowledge of materials management, procurement, and inventory control in fabrication or heavy engineering industry.

Experience in steel fabrication materials, bought-outs, and vendor market for transport and static equipment.

Good skills in vendor development, negotiation, and supplier performance management.

Ability to plan material requirements in line with production schedules and project timelines.

Working knowledge of ERP systems and inventory control tools.

Understanding of Lean principles and cost reduction initiatives in supply chain/materials management.

Strong analytical, communication, and coordination skills across internal departments and suppliers.

Ability to manage priorities, work under pressure, and ensure timely material availability.

Knowledge of ISO standards, audit compliance, and warehouse/material handling practices.
