Job Profile
The Procurement Officer is responsible for sourcing and purchasing goods and services required by the organization. This role involves identifying reliable suppliers, negotiating contracts, ensuring cost-efficiency, and maintaining strong vendor relationships to support the organization's operational goals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Purchasing & Order Management
- Assist in sourcing quotations, negotiate prices, and issue purchase orders (POs) in line with approved requisitions
- Ensure timely follow-up with suppliers for order confirmations, lead times, and delivery schedules
- Track the status of all open purchase orders and update internal systems accordingly
2. Supplier Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with local and international suppliers
- Evaluate supplier performance based on pricing, quality, reliability, and service levels
- Assist in supplier audits, documentation collection, and compliance with vendor policies
3. Inventory Coordination
- Monitor stock levels and place orders to prevent shortages or overstock situations
- Coordinate with the warehouse and operations team to understand inventory needs
- Assist in planning monthly or seasonal procurement in line with consumption trends
4. Cost Control & Analysis
- Ensure procurement is aligned with budgetary limits and cost control targets
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and present reports to the procurement head
- Monitor market trends, price fluctuations, and currency impact on imports
5. Documentation & Compliance
- Ensure proper documentation for each procurement transaction including invoices, delivery notes
- Maintain records of all purchases and approvals for audit readiness
- Comply with internal control procedures and external regulatory standards
6. Cross-Department Coordination
- Liaise with finance for invoice processing and payment tracking
- Coordinate with quality control for product checks and supplier non-conformity handling
Qualifications and Skills
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management.
- Experience in Al -Ras market is mandatory.
