Procurement Officer - Al Ras Market

Job Profile

The Procurement Officer is responsible for sourcing and purchasing goods and services required by the organization. This role involves identifying reliable suppliers, negotiating contracts, ensuring cost-efficiency, and maintaining strong vendor relationships to support the organization's operational goals.

Key Responsibilities

1. Purchasing & Order Management

  • Assist in sourcing quotations, negotiate prices, and issue purchase orders (POs) in line with approved requisitions
  • Ensure timely follow-up with suppliers for order confirmations, lead times, and delivery schedules
  • Track the status of all open purchase orders and update internal systems accordingly

2. Supplier Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with local and international suppliers
  • Evaluate supplier performance based on pricing, quality, reliability, and service levels
  • Assist in supplier audits, documentation collection, and compliance with vendor policies

3. Inventory Coordination

  • Monitor stock levels and place orders to prevent shortages or overstock situations
  • Coordinate with the warehouse and operations team to understand inventory needs
  • Assist in planning monthly or seasonal procurement in line with consumption trends

4. Cost Control & Analysis

  • Ensure procurement is aligned with budgetary limits and cost control targets
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and present reports to the procurement head
  • Monitor market trends, price fluctuations, and currency impact on imports

5. Documentation & Compliance

  • Ensure proper documentation for each procurement transaction including invoices, delivery notes
  • Maintain records of all purchases and approvals for audit readiness
  • Comply with internal control procedures and external regulatory standards

6. Cross-Department Coordination

  • Liaise with finance for invoice processing and payment tracking
  • Coordinate with quality control for product checks and supplier non-conformity handling

Qualifications and Skills

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

Experience

  • 2–5 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management.
  • Experience in Al -Ras market is mandatory.
