The Procurement Product Specialist is responsible for supporting the analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation of procurement software solutions. This role serves as the bridge between procurement operations and technical development teams, ensuring systems and enhancements meet functional requirements, streamline workflows, and improve automation across the procurement lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Requirements & Analysis
Gather, analyze, and document functional and technical requirements related to procurement processes.
Evaluate current procurement workflows to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for automation.
Collaborate with procurement stakeholders, business analysts, and developers to define product needs and priorities.
Product Design & Development Support
Translate procurement business requirements into clear product specifications and user stories.
Support the design of system features, workflows, interfaces, and integrations to optimize procurement operations.
Work closely with software development teams to ensure product features align with procurement policies and business rules.
Testing & Quality Assurance
Develop test cases and perform system, integration, and user acceptance testing for procurement-related features.
Validate that system enhancements meet business requirements and regulatory standards.
Identify and document defects, ensuring timely resolution.
Implementation & User Support
Assist with the rollout, configuration, and deployment of procurement system updates and new features.
Provide end-user training, support, and guidance to ensure successful adoption of procurement tools.
Monitor system performance and gather feedback for future enhancements.
Procurement Subject-Matter Expertise
Apply procurement knowledge (e.g., requisitions, solicitations, contracting, vendor management, approvals) to guide product decisions.
Ensure system workflows promote compliance, transparency, and operational efficiency.
Act as a subject-matter expert on procurement best practices and business rules.
Qualifications
Required
Experience in procurement operations or procurement system support.
Strong understanding of procurement processes and regulations.
Ability to analyze complex workflows and translate them into system requirements.
Experience with testing, requirements gathering, or product support.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred
Experience working with procurement or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Ariba, Coupa, Unison/PRISM).
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Technical aptitude (e.g., ability to interpret system designs, data structures, APIs).
