Procurement Quality Engineer – Coating & Painting

Role Overview

To Ensure Client requirements (AGES) are captured in the Qa/Qc documentation ( ITPs & Procedures) for all Packages related to piping, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation etc.

Key Responsibilities

· Review project specifications, coating datasheets, and client procedures, and translate them into paint system requirements and method statements

· Select coating systems (primers, intermediates, topcoats, linings, FBE, etc.) based on service conditions (temperature, immersion, UV, CUI, fireproofing, chemical exposure).

· Define surface preparation requirements (e.g., Sa 2½, profile range, soluble salt limits) and application parameters (DFT ranges, number of coats, overcoating intervals, curing conditions).

· Prepare and maintain painting procedures, ITPs, QA/QC plans, and work instructions for shop and field painting.

· Support or lead qualification of coating systems (adhesion tests, holiday tests, bend tests, aging/exposure trials) as required by project or standards.

· Define manpower, equipment, and consumable requirements (abrasive, paint, thinners, masking, scaffolding) and monitor their usage

· Troubleshoot defects (runs, sags, pinholes, blisters, poor adhesion, under‑cure) and define corrective actions

· Work closely with Painting/Coating Inspectors to ensure implementation of ITPs and inspection hold/witness points.

· Review and approve inspection records, test reports, NCRs, and repairs; support root cause analysis and corrective actions

· Ensure that painting records are compiled for MDR/turnover dossiers (batch numbers, DFT logs, environmental records, repair histories).

Qualifications

Education: Engineering Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering.

Experience: Minimum 10 years in Oil & Gas inspection (Source Inspection focus), ADNOC work experience and ADNOC approval are preferred. Post certification Experience over 7 years is a must

Certifications:

NACE CIP Level II or III (Peer Review) OR BGAS-CSWIP Grade 1/2.

ISO 9001 Internal Auditor.

Technical Knowledge: ISO 12944, SSPC standards, and specific experience with internal linings and thermal spray aluminum (TSA).
