Job Summary
The Procurement Specialist is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, components, and services required for the production of switchgear, controls, and custom generator enclosures for critical applications, including the data center market. This position plays a key role in ensuring material availability, supplier reliability, and cost efficiency while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Source and purchase raw materials, fabricated parts, electrical components, metal enclosures, and related materials to support manufacturing operations.

Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery, quality performance, and competitive pricing.

Evaluate supplier quotes and negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms to meet company cost and delivery objectives.

Issue purchase orders (POs) and manage order confirmations, delivery schedules, and resolve issues related to quality, shortages or delays

Collaborate with production, engineering, and logistics to anticipate material needs and resolve supply chain challenges.

Forecast material needs based on manufacturing and assembly plans, maintain accurate inventory levels via ERP systems, and minimize excess or obsolete stock.

Monitor supplier performance and maintain approved vendor lists, ensuring compliance with company policies and quality standards.

Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through process improvement, volume leverage, and alternate sourcing.

Coordinate with accounting to reconcile and resolve PO/invoice discrepancies.

Maintain accurate procurement records and support internal audits as required.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical preferred), or related field; or equivalent relevant work experience.
- 3+ years of purchasing/buying experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally with electrical equipment, power distribution products and metal fabrications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proven negotiation skills and experience achieving cost reductions.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (Epicor preferred) and Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a dynamic production setting.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
