Procurement Specialist

Summary/Objectives:

Trewon is seeking a Procurement Specialist to support our Federal Government client on a part-time basis. Procurement Specialists perform a variety of tasks and analyses in all phases of the acquisitions process. Procurement Specialists advise and assist government managers on acquisitions related topics as appropriate. Specific processes may vary depending upon the directorate and/or office assigned, with specific activities, workflows, and systems/tools governed by SOPs that typically evolve over time.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists with drafting statements of work and independent government cost estimates.

  • Assists with market research, data analysis, and technical evaluation.

  • Reviews planned orders, creates requisitions for purchased items and supports the approval process.

  • Oversees approved purchase orders and provides supporting documents to supplier.

  • Tracks order acknowledgement; confirms lead times, delivery dates, and costs; and communicates with the program office on any discrepancies or disruptions.

  • Reviews and tracks purchase orders until they are closed.

  • Reviews orders to confirm that they adhere to supplier agreements and contracts, and reports nonconformance.

  • Reviews invoices to confirm delivery of goods and assists with invoicing discrepancies.

  • Identifies opportunities and recommends actions to achieve efficiencies.

  • Evaluates supplier’s capacity to perform and comply and makes recommendations to management concerning products and services and available sources of supply.

  • Assists COR with eFiling requirements.

Other skills:

  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft applications (MS Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel, and Outlook).

  • Must be highly organized and have excellent oral and written communication skills to interface with personnel and other government agencies at all levels.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Knowledge of office policies, practices, and procedures.

  • Experience in acquisitions or supply chain fields.

  • Working knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and other procurement statutes, policies, and procedures.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to apply analytical skills to procurement issues.

  • Must maintain professional competence and specialized knowledge base by keeping abreast of emerging themes and best practices.

  • A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in Federal Acquisitions.

Education Required

  • BS/BA or higher – applicable major preferred

Work Environment

This position is an onsite in Blackstone, VA. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers. The core working hours are 9 AM – 3 PM Monday through Friday. Employees will take a mandatory meal break to cover a minimum of 30 minutes. Manager may grant variance depending on client (government or prime contractor) flow-down specifications, upon employer application.
