Position overview:
SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory¿s Supply Chain Management Procurement Department seeks a Mid-Level Buyer to procure, administer, and support a range of acquisitions. Reporting to the Services Team Lead, the Buyer will provide support to activities involving the placement and administration of purchase orders, goods and services. The Buyer is also responsible for providing support for completing routine to complex higher value procurement functions for the acquisition of commodities, equipment, components, and services.
Your specific responsibilities include:

Manages post-award activities: Proactively coordinates with Procurement Subcontract Administrators to finalize all tasks after a PO or Subcontract is issued.

Manages and executes routine and formal closeout procedures accurately and efficiently.

Assist in the administration of high-level purchase orders and subcontracts through completion.

Conducts comprehensive review of agreements that are expiring or approaching their financial limits, determining and implementing appropriate remedies.

Resolve invoicing and payment issues.

Review for compliance, track and manage Certificates of Insurance (COI)

Perform related procurement activities as assigned.

To be successful in this position you will bring:
-
Bachelor's degree and three years of experience performing duties similar to those listed above or a combination of education and relevant experience.

Extensive experience with an on-line purchase requisition and purchase order system.

Strong knowledge of market conditions, trade practices, sources, and lead times.
-
Experience placing routine but higher value purchase orders relative to best value and reasonableness of price costing.

Strong analytical skills.

Ability to work in a dynamic environment to identify, clarify and resolve routine but higher value problems (e.g. resolve discrepancies on RFPs and Purchase orders as they arise).

Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.

Must have the ability to take initiative to complete duties proactively, and work under varying deadlines.

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population.
In addition, preferred requirements include:

Previous experience working in a research and development purchasing department

The expected pay range for this position is $91,156 - $103,664 per annum.
