Procurement Specialist

Job Title: Procurement Specialist

The primary function of this position includes working closely with suppliers, vendors and all departments within the business. This role is responsible for the full procurement cycle—sourcing, negotiating, and executing daily purchasing activities which include raw materials and packaging supplies. Additional responsibilities will include end-to-end logistics of all in-bound and out-going freight. Excellent communications skills and the ability to develop long-term relationships with key suppliers are crucial to the business’ success. The ideal candidate must have a proven track record of buying experience and successes. Further attributes include a high ability to develop strategic plans, understanding the operational needs of multiple facilities, show flexibility to unforeseen activities and a willingness to multitask to meet the demands of the position. Candidate will be required to report on-site daily.

Responsibilities

Buyer

  • Lead the purchasing of key raw materials by closely monitoring inventory levels, processing purchase orders and coordinating delivery based on production demands and forecasts.
  • Direct the movement of macro ingredient which includes daily reconciling, vendor communication and process inventory through Infor XA software.
  • Learn and understand the dynamics of the market for key materials and suppliers.
  • Submit monthly reports to the business regarding raw material cost.
  • Work closely with supply chain manager and senior members regarding the negotiation of contracts, pricing and payment terms to secure the best value for the company’s future.
  • Work with vendors to resolve any immediate issues with key ingredients.

· Maintain optimal stock levels, prevent shortages, and manage purchase orders for packaging supplies.

o Closely analyze spending and identify opportunities to reduce packaging costs without sacrificing quality.

  • Oversee, coordinate and execute all packaging projects.

Logistics

  • Schedule all daily logistics for incoming and outgoing goods.
  • Ability to communicate real-time data concerning shipment tracking and delivery expectations across multiple departments.
  • Willingness to address and resolve after-hour/weekend urgent needs that on rare occasions arrive to be certain that our customer focused service level approach is maintained.

Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in business; Supply Chain or Business Management, or related field preferred

· Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing industry required

· Strong negotiation skills are a must

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills for daily interaction with suppliers, vendors and internal departments

· High level planning, organizational, and time management skills

· Strong mathematical and analytical skills for assessing costs, trends, and data

· Ability to develop and maintain key relationships with suppliers and vendors

· Proven track record of negotiating contracts and terms

· Capable of problem solving

· Able to work independently as well as in a team setting

· Willingness to perform all other tasks that would encompass the logistics department as requested

· Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)

· Infor XA experience desired but not necessary
