ESSENTIAL DUTIES in the Produce Department (Produce Clerk) (responsibilities include, but are not limited to):
- Stocking and unpacking Produce
- Setting up and maintaining the condition of the Produce Department according to company standards
- Ensures produce is handled, stocked, rotated and merchandised
- Checks product area temperature to ensure freshness and quality
- Processing and/or wrapping produce items prior to filling designated areas
- Cutting, labeling, and wrapping produce
- Operating pallet jack, scissor lift, baler, compactor and scrub machine
- Maintaining cleanliness of the store/ store upkeep
- Must clean and sanitize work areas
- Work Environment will be in extreme temperature
Customer Service:
- Providing premier customer service, including greeting them and responding to questions
- Engaging in suggestive selling and other sales techniques
- Meets or exceeds Department’s sales goals assigned through the efficient execution of Company policies and procedures
- Maintains cleanliness of work area, storage area, and selling floor
- Ensures a safe and clean work environment

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Must be 18 or older to use sharp knives, use ladders, scaffolds or their substitutes, substitutes above 6 feet in height, and to operate or assist in operating power-driven machinery or equipment.
- Must be able to use job related equipment such as slicer, scale, saw, knife and wrapper
- No experience required, but a minimum of 1-2 years of work experience in a similar work environment is preferred
- Experience as a Produce Clerk is preferred
- Possess a CA Food Handling license or the ability to acquire one
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds without aid
- Exposure to potential hazards exists with respect to equipment and work aides necessary to perform job duties. Hands are in frequent contact with water and various fruits and vegetables while performing job duties.
REQUIREMENTS

Comfortable with working in a kitchen environment

Must be able to operate related equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks and hand trucks

Able to deliver friendly, courteous, prompt customer service

Able to read, write, and do simple math problems

Able to interpret, understand and follow instructions
- Ability to effectively communicate and respond to questions from the general public and management

Ability to interact with all levels of management

Has or willing to obtain a CA Food Handler's Certificate
