Product Configuration Expert – Commercial IoT

Location: Egypt, Greece, Bulgaria.

As a Product Configuration Expert – Commercial IoT within Digital & Technology Platforms Services (DTPS) you will be responsible for the development and lifecycle of IoT products and solutions tailored to commercial use cases such as connected coffee machines, connected vending systems, connected coolers, etc. In this role, you will develop firmware and embedded software for IoT devices, ensuring efficient data collection, network communication, operation on limited hardware, and IoT devices integration with OEM devices. The ideal candidate has strong market knowledge, expertise in IoT hardware needs, and technical proficiency in IoT systems.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Architect and develop embedded firmware for IoT-enabled equipment.

• Program microcontrollers using C/C++ and Python, ensuring reliability in production environments.

• Design and integrate hardware subsystems, including:

o Sensors (temperature, flow, pressure, level)

o Actuators (pumps, valves, motors)

o Communication modules (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NB-IoT)

• Implement and maintain device communication protocols:

o MQTT, HTTP, and custom protocols

• Lead hardware integration with OEM equipment (coffee machines, vending systems, coolers), including:

o Reverse engineering interfaces where required

o Ensuring robust interoperability and safety

o Connectivity with 3rd party controllers / devices using Modbus, RS232, RS485 protocols

• Optimize systems for:

o Low power consumption

o Memory efficiency

o Real-time performance

o Efficient communication via GSM network channels 4G etc.

• Collaborate with backend and product teams to ensure seamless integration with:

o IoT platforms ( Azure IoT Hub)

o APIs, dashboards, and data pipelines

• Support device lifecycle management:

o Provisioning, OTA updates, monitoring, and diagnostics

• Ensure compliance with security, data privacy, and industry regulations

• Stay up to date with emerging IoT technologies, connectivity standards, and embedded best practices

ARE THESE YOUR SECRET INGREDIENTS?

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field

• 5+ years of experience in embedded systems development , Including 2+ years in IoT / connected devices

• Strong proficiency in:

o C / C++ (embedded)

o Python (for tooling, scripting, or edge logic)

• Hands-on experience with:

o Microcontrollers (e.g., STM32, ESP32, ARM Cortex)

o Peripheral interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C)

• Proven experience integrating IoT hardware with OEM equipment. Preferably in coffee machines, vending systems, or refrigeration units

• Solid understanding of:

o Connectivity protocols (MQTT, HTTP etc)

o GSM module architecture, functionality and use in embedded systems

o Cloud IoT platforms (Azure IoT Hub)

• Experience optimizing embedded systems for constrained environments

• Familiarity with:

o Secure device communication (TLS, certificates)

o Over the air firmware updates and fleet management Experience working with cross-functional teams: engineering, UX/UI, data, sales, and operations.

• Experience working in startups or early-stage product development environments.

• English proficiency
