The division:
Cornerstone Billing Solutions is an alarm company management software built exclusively for the security industry — developed over 25+ years in partnership with real alarm dealers. Every feature is purpose-built for how your business actually runs, not adapted from generic software and bolted on as an afterthought.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Part-Time Contract Product Designer (4 hours per day for 6 months) to support the modernization of our product ecosystem. This role will play a key part in transforming a legacy desktop application into a modern, web-based platform, revitalizing our mobile application, and supporting broader rebranding initiatives.
This is a hands-on, execution-focused role ideal for a designer who thrives in complex environments and can balance strategic thinking with tactical delivery. The role will work closely with Product, Engineering, and Leadership teams and is expected to contribute meaningfully within a defined time commitment.
Key Responsibilities
Product & UX Design
Lead the design modernization of a legacy desktop application into a modern, intuitive web experience.
Redesign and streamline complex workflows while preserving core business logic.
Support enhancements to the mobile application to improve usability and consistency.
Translate business requirements and technical constraints into clear, user-centered designs.
UI Design & Visual Identity
Contribute to the evolution of the product’s visual language as part of a broader rebranding effort.
Help define and refine design systems, UI components, and interaction patterns.
Ensure visual consistency across web, mobile, and supporting interfaces.
Collaboration & Delivery
Work closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to align design decisions with technical feasibility and delivery timelines.
Participate in discovery, ideation, and feedback sessions.
Provide clear design documentation and assets to support efficient implementation.
Research & Validation
Conduct lightweight user research and usability testing to validate design decisions.
Identify usability gaps and opportunities for simplification within legacy workflows.
Iterate designs based on feedback and real-world usage.
Required Qualifications
4+ years of experience in product design (UX/UI), preferably in complex or enterprise environments.
Demonstrated experience modernizing legacy applications or redesigning mature products.
Strong portfolio showcasing end-to-end design thinking and execution.
Proficiency in modern design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD).
Strong understanding of responsive web and mobile design principles.
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and deliver within a part-time engagement.
Strong communication skills and comfort collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications
Experience working on B2B, SaaS, or operational software products.
Exposure to design systems and component-based UI frameworks.
Experience working alongside engineering teams during phased modernization efforts.
Familiarity with accessibility standards and usability best practices.
Experience contributing to branding or rebranding initiatives.
