Job Requisition: Product Designer (UX & UI)

Overview
Extra Duty Solutions (EDS) is the leader in off-duty detail management for law enforcement agencies and municipalities. We are currently modernizing and unifying our software platforms to deliver a cohesive, intuitive experience for our customers.
As part of a cross-functional team, you will help discover and design solutions that are valuable, usable, and feasible. You’ll engage directly with our customers to deeply understand their needs, rapidly prototype new ideas, and validate concepts before they are built. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the EDS design system and ensuring that every user experience delivers clarity, efficiency, and trust.
Key Responsibilities
User Discovery & Continuous Learning
· Collaborate with the Product Manager and Engineering Lead in continuous discovery to identify customer problems and opportunities.
· Conduct user interviews, usability tests, and prototype evaluations to reduce risk across value, usability, and feasibility.
· Translate insights into design hypotheses and measurable product outcomes.
· Continuously refine designs based on learning, data, and evolving business needs.
· Ensure all designs meet accessibility standards and support agency compliance requirements.
Design & Prototyping
· Create low and high-fidelity prototypes as learning and communication tools throughout discovery and delivery.
· Develop intuitive, efficient workflows that streamline complex scheduling and financial processes.
· Contribute to and evolve a scalable EDS design system as a living product asset.
· Partner with front-end engineers to maintain alignment between design intent and implementation.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
· Operate as a core member of an empowered product team, sharing accountability for customer and business outcomes.
· Work closely with Product and Engineering peers to define problems, explore solutions, and evaluate impact.
· Present design rationale and discovery learnings to stakeholders and executive leadership.
· Champion user advocacy and evidence-based decision-making across teams.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
· 3–5 years of product design experience with SaaS or workflow-heavy applications.
· Proficiency in Figma and other industry-standard design tools.
· Deep understanding of responsive and cross-platform design (desktop and mobile).
· Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, React) to collaborate effectively with engineers.
· Demonstrated experience in discovery-driven product teams and iterative design.
· Strong portfolio that highlights problem-solving in complex applications.
