TDP Bakery is an established company that manufactures and self-distributes to thousands of locations nightly. This formerly small family business has expanded rapidly over the past five years but still maintains the benefits of a close-knit culture and entrepreneurial spirit. Our combined bakeries manufacture millions of fresh bakery items every week, and our distribution teams drive enough miles each day to circle the earth to ensure that our consumers can enjoy something truly fresh.

The Product Developer will focus on development of new products and optimization of existing products at the bench, pilot, and full scale in the bakery.

Major Responsibilities:

• Develop and manage new products from prototype through launch and stabilization.
• Review and analyze results of trials to provide recommendations. Prepare results for review and present findings.
• Develop and maintain detailed documentation of ongoing and future projects and provide regular reviews on the status of projects and expenses.
• Develop product and ingredient specifications for new and existing products.
• Document and maintain nutritional facts.
• Provide technical support in manufacturing facilities, including writing SOP’s for production staff.
• Support Procurement and Quality in identifying and developing ingredients.
• Communicate cross-departmentally to foster effective business partnerships with suppliers.
• Support Finance in development of ingredient costing standards.
• Research and monitor consumer trends and current wants/needs within the food industry for innovative ideas.

Core Position Requirements:

• BS in Food Science, Nutrition, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering strongly preferred, culinary degree with professional baking experience will be considered
• 3+ years of relevant work or intern experience preferred
• Strong time management and superior organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment
• Passion for baking and partnering with bakery associates to bring creations to life!

Critical Skills:

• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Detail-oriented to accurately review and document key procedures, label review, nutritional calculations, etc.
• This is not a laboratory position – requires excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization
• Must be willing to travel up to 25% to provide support during product launches
