Summary: Primary responsibilities are to manage packaging commercialization processes, ensure labeling regulatory compliance, and assist R&D with product specifications.
Essential Job Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Own all labeling/packaging design and approval processes including, working with Sales/Marketing and other departments to align with product marketing strategy and business plan
- Ensure all consumer brand packaging follows federal, state, and local regulations
- Work closely with R&D to develop finished product specifications including product formulation, sensory, nutrition, traceability, and packaging
- Create label copy with ingredient statements, nutrition facts, and substantiation of product claims to ensure accuracy on the final artwork
- Create packaging project timelines and communicate with designers, suppliers, and other departments to meet target production dates
- Partner with internal and external partners including designers and printer vendors to manage the artwork development process
- Use academic/professional knowledge while exercising good judgment on technical issues related to regulatory, nutrition, and quality
- Keep abreast of all government, state, and local regulations and work with the Quality department to ensure compliance
- Gather and interpret data/test results and provide technical expertise and guidance to the customers, sales, and R&D
- Prepare PowerPoint presentations and other materials to distribute to upper management and other departments as needed
- Write standard operating procedures for the Product Management department
- Supervise and evaluate subordinates
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications & Skills:
- BS Degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or a similar discipline and/or 1+ years of food industry experience
- Understanding the application of US labeling regulations (FDA, USDA)
- Understanding of food manufacturing, formulation, and ingredient functionality
- Understanding of Quality Assurance and Food Safety
- Genesis R&D or other nutrition database software
- Computer skills (Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, other computer programs, etc.)
- Ability to adapt, troubleshoot, and problem-solve using resources/independent judgment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to give clear, detailed instructions
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $22.58 - $25.00 per hour
