Videographer (Educational Content & Green Screen Production)

Project: Beaker’s House of Music
Format: Contract / Project-Based
Primary Focus: Educational video production for children, integrating live-action video with animation and motion graphics

Project Overview

Beaker’s House of Music is an educational music program for children that blends storytelling, music instruction, and character-driven animation. Videos are filmed primarily on green screen and later enhanced with animated characters, motion graphics, pop-ups, and visual cues created by a separate animator.

The videographer will play a key role in capturing high-quality footage that is intentionally designed to integrate smoothly with animation and motion graphics in post-production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Film educational story and lesson videos featuring an on-camera instructor (Mrs. Giles)
  • Set up and properly light green screen environments for consistent, clean keying
  • Capture footage with animation integration in mind (framing, spacing, eyelines, timing)
  • Collaborate with the animator to ensure live-action footage supports planned motion graphics and animated elements
  • Edit video content to align with scripts, pacing, and educational flow
  • Insert basic motion graphics placeholders or reference markers as needed (final animation completed by animator)
  • Sync pre-recorded audio tracks (music, narration, sound effects) with video
  • Deliver organized, labeled files suitable for animation and post-production workflows
  • Maintain consistent visual style across stories, lessons, and exercises

Collaboration & Workflow

  • Work closely with the creative lead and animator to understand where animation will appear on screen
  • Follow scripts that mirror storybook and workbook page numbers
  • Ensure footage allows space for animated pop-ups, characters, and instructional visuals
  • Support reusable video elements (intros, transitions, recurring segments)

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a videographer and video editor
  • Strong understanding of green screen setup, lighting, and filming techniques
  • Experience filming instructional, educational, or presenter-led content
  • Ability to shoot with animation and motion graphics integration in mind (even if not creating animation)
  • Proficiency with professional video editing software (e.g., Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or similar)
  • Strong attention to framing, pacing, and visual clarity for young audiences
  • Ability to follow detailed scripts and production guidelines
  • Ability to edit video to integrate animation and motion graphics (e.g., placing, timing, scaling, and syncing animated elements), while collaborating with a separate animator who creates the animation assets. Not responsible for creating animation, but must be able to edit videos to incorporate and align animation and motion graphics provided by an animator.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience collaborating with animators or motion graphic designers
  • Familiarity with educational course development, especially for children
  • Experience producing content for digital courses or online learning platforms
  • Comfort working with AI-assisted tools for editing, organization, or workflow efficiency
  • Musical background or experience filming music-related content
  • Experience filming children’s programming or family-friendly content
  • Knowledge of audio capture for music and singing performances

Production Notes

  • Videos include storytelling, lessons, music, and interactive "Check It Out" exercises
  • Some videos include on-camera singing; audio tracks are pre-recorded
  • Filming may involve seated and standing instruction, with movement
  • Many animated elements are reusable across episodes; videography should support this consistency
  • Sample videos are provided as references and are not final productions

Deliverables

  • High-quality raw and/or edited video files ready for animation integration
  • Cleanly keyed green screen footage
  • Consistent formatting and naming conventions across all video assets
  • Timely delivery aligned with production schedule

Ideal Candidate

This role is best suited for someone who enjoys educational storytelling, creative collaboration, and building scalable video content for young learners.
