About AIM

Architecture in Motion (AIM) is a Canadian technology firm that helps organizations design, build and modernize secure, scalable digital platforms. Our work spans API management, cloud engineering, security, data platforms, and full-stack application development. We work with enterprise and high-growth clients across North America and globally.

What sets AIM apart is how we work. We are hands-on, collaborative, and deeply invested in outcomes. We do not operate in silos. Our Product Owners, developers, designers, and stakeholders work as one team, focused on solving real business problems and delivering software that clients trust and value.

The Role

We are looking for a highly proactive Product Owner who takes full ownership of product success and delivery outcomes. This role requires someone who leads from the front, brings clarity to ambiguity, and consistently raises the bar on quality. You will define product direction, deeply understand the business needs, translate them into clear and actionable requirements, and work closely with developers to deliver high-quality solutions.

This role combines Product Ownership and Business Analysis. The ideal candidate is confident, detail-driven, and takes pride in their work. You mentor developers through clarity and strong guidance, drive thoughtful solutions, and consistently deliver results that earn client trust and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Product Ownership and Direction

  • Own the product vision and ensure it aligns with business goals and client expectations.
  • Manage expectations through clear communication, transparency, and follow-through.
  • Actively drive product decisions rather than simply documenting requests.
  • Take full accountability for product outcomes, delivery quality and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Work closely with developers on a day-to-day basis to clarify requirements and intent.

Business Analysis and Requirements Ownership

  • Lead requirement discovery sessions with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.
  • Analyze business processes, pain points, and objectives to uncover real needs.
  • Translate business needs into clear user stories, functional requirements, workflows, and acceptance criteria.
  • Ensure requirements are complete, unambiguous, and ready for development.
  • Maintain clear and structured documentation including user stories, functional specs, process flows, and use cases.
  • Ensure documentation supports scalability, onboarding and long-term maintainability.

Backlog and Delivery Management

  • Own and maintain product backlog in DevOps or Jira.
  • Prioritize work based on business value, risk dependencies, and delivery impact.
  • Ensure the development team always has well-defined, ready to build work.
  • Ensure stories are well prepared before entering a sprint
  • While a Scrum Master may support delivery mechanics, you remain accountable for product readiness and clarity.

Stakeholder Management and Communication

  • Act as the primary point of contact between stakeholders and the development team, managing stakeholder expectations, providing regular updates, and gathering feedback.
  • Ensure that the product remains aligned with business needs through continuous communication, helping to avoid last-minute surprises and keeping all parties aligned.

Product Development and Collaboration

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, and IT departments, to understand business requirements and align our software products and analytics initiatives with organizational objectives.
  • Act as a Product Owner by building and prioritizing user stories that capture business needs and technical requirements, ensuring alignment with the overall product vision.
  • Bridge the gap between business stakeholders and developers by translating business needs into technical specifications and ensuring a clear understanding of requirements.

Quality Assurance

  • Work closely with QA teams to ensure that all user stories meet the acceptance criteria and quality standards.
  • Involvement in testing and validation helps ensure that the product not only functions as intended but also aligns with broader business objectives, reducing the likelihood of defects or missed requirements.

Knowledge Transfer and Support:

  • Provide knowledge transfer and support to designers and developers, assisting with building web and mobile applications, as well as Power BI dashboards that visualize key performance indicators (KPIs), trends, and metrics.

Project Documentation and Technical Feasibility:

  • Create and maintain project documentation, including user stories, functional requirements, process flows, behavior-driven use cases, and acceptance criteria in conjunction with peers and other subject matter experts.
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure the technical feasibility of requirements and participate in sprint planning and review meetings.

Adaptability and Responsiveness:

  • Continuously refine the product backlog and respond to feedback to ensure that the product remains relevant and competitive, especially in a fast-paced startup environment where priorities may shift.

Process Improvement and Innovation:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and innovation, leveraging strong technical knowledge to suggest feasible solutions.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Utilize advanced analytics techniques and tools to dissect complex datasets and provide actionable insights.
  • Understand and document data integrations, data cleansing, and transformation processes, ensuring data accuracy and integrity across systems.
  • Communicate complex analytical findings effectively to stakeholders, providing insights that drive informed decision-making.

Requirements:

Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner and Business Analyst.
  • Proven experience owning products end-to-end in Agile environments.
  • Strong background working with development teams delivering complex software solutions.

Core Capabilities

  • Highly proactive and self-directed with strong ownership mindset.
  • Exceptional ability to turn ambiguity into clarity
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable mentoring developers and influencing without authority.

Technical and Analytical Exposure

  • Experience working with APIs, integrations, and data-driven systems.
  • Familiarity with Azure platforms, cloud services, and modern application architecture is a strong asset – including:
    • DevOps, Data Factory, SQL Database, Functions, and Logic Apps.
  • Experience with analytics tools, dashboards or KPIs is beneficial.
    • Data warehousing concepts and data modeling.
    • Data retrieval and manipulation via APIs including integrating with 3rd party data sources or systems (RESTful APIs and related networking protocols).
    • SQL for querying and manipulating data from relational databases.
    • Project management methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, and Kanban.
  • Deep understanding of business analysis methodologies, tools, best practices, software development processes, and technologies.
  • Strong technical knowledge to effectively bridge the gap between business stakeholders and developers.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines within an Agile environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible in responding to new information, requirement changes, and shifting priorities in an evolving business landscape.
  • Experience with data analysis and visualization tools.

Why Join AIM

At AIM, this role has real ownership and real influence. You will not be boxed into a narrow function. You will shape products, guide teams, and directly impact client success.

If you are a Product Owner / Business Analyst who takes pride in excellence, drives clarity, and consistently delivers results that stand out, this role is designed for you.
