Position Summary
ANDRITZ is seeking a
Product Quality Manager
to lead quality execution for
fabricated and welded engineered equipment
. This role partners closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Suppliers, and Project Teams to ensure quality compliance from fabrication start through final delivery.
This position is
welding‑adjacent and fabrication‑focused
, with an emphasis on
inspection planning, supplier oversight, and corrective action
, rather than serving as a full‑time welding inspector.
Key Responsibilities

Lead
product and project quality execution
for fabricated and welded equipment
-
Develop and implement
Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
and quality monitoring strategies
-
Support fabrication shops and suppliers with
welding quality expectations, inspection readiness, and process controls
-
Partner with Engineering to translate drawings, specifications, and standards into executable quality plans
-
Lead
root cause analysis, nonconformance resolution, and corrective/preventive actions
-
Conduct and support
supplier audits, qualification, and quality oversight
-
Serve as a
technical quality interface
with internal teams and external customers
-
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across fabrication, inspection, and supplier performance

Foundational / working knowledge of welding and fabrication environments

Practical awareness of
AWS welding standards (AWS D1‑level familiarity)

Experience supporting
welded fabrications, inspections, or supplier quality
, even if not a certified welding inspector
Developable / Trainable

Deeper application of
AWS D1.1 / D1.6
and related welding codes

Advanced welding inspection authority (training and mentorship supported)
Note:
This role does
not
require Day‑1 CWI certification. Candidates with strong quality leadership and fabrication exposure who are
trainable to higher welding depth
are encouraged to apply.
Additional Qualifications
-
Experience in
industrial fabrication, welded assemblies, or engineered equipment

Strong background in
quality execution, inspection planning, and corrective action

Supplier quality, audit, and oversight experience
-
Ability to work cross‑functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Project teams
-
ISO 9001 experience in practical, shop‑floor environments preferred
-
Lean / Six Sigma experience a plus
Education & Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in
Mechanical, Materials, Industrial Engineering
, or a related technical discipline (
Master’s a plus
).

Minimum 5 years of experience
in
Quality, Project Quality, or Manufacturing Quality
roles within
pulp & paper, power, metals, chemical, process industries, or large fabrication environments
.

Foundational / working exposure to welding and fabrication environments
, with familiarity to
AWS welding standards at a practical (AWS D1‑level) awareness
.
-
Advanced welding code expertise can be developed with training and mentorship.
-
Strong working knowledge of
machining, surface preparation, and mechanical testing
methods.
-
Demonstrated ability to perform
dimensional inspections
, interpret drawings/specifications, and verify compliance across
multiple stages of fabrication
.
-
Experience supporting or participating in
supplier audits and supplier quality oversight
(preferred).

Experience with
failure analysis, nonconformance resolution, and root cause analysis (RCA)
(preferred).

Familiarity with
pulp & paper or other heavy industrial equipment
is a plus.

Ability and willingness to travel internationally (
occasional travel to Asia and Europe as required
).
Work Environment
This role requires daily cross-functional interaction with vendors, Sales, Engineering, Production, Quality Control, and Materials. Overnight travel by air or ground is required.
