Position Overview:

We are seeking a Product Strategy Analyst to drive our product strategy by identifying early-growth trends, tracking competitor movements, and creating actionable product ideas for our core brands: Luna, Fomin, House of Party (HOP), and SuperGoods. This role involves developing and implementing a comprehensive research system to spot trends, analyze cross-market potential, and collaborate with the development team to bring high-potential product ideas to market. You will be responsible for translating your findings into market-ready concepts, working with the team from idea inception through to product launch.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Trend Identification and Product Ideation

  • Monthly Product Ideas Report:

Conduct in-depth research on emerging trends and deliver a report with 10 trend-based product ideas on the first Monday of each month.

  • Market-Ready Ideas:

Ensure that at least 4 of these ideas are viable for immediate development, aligning with brand goals, market demand, and channel suitability for ret il, Amazon, and Etsy.

  • Presentation and Review:

Present these ideas in a monthly meeting with leadership (you and Sophie) to discuss each concept’s potential. Provide data-backed insights and a clear rationale for each idea, ready to answer questions about target market and competitive landscape.

2. Research and System Development

  • Comprehensive Trend Research System:

Develop, implement, and refine a system to track emerging trends across retail, Amazon, and Etsy, capturing trend history, early growth signals, competitor insights, and product potential.

  • Automation and Efficiency:

Explore opportunities for automation and improved efficiencies within the trend tracking process, such as integrating software tools, APIs, or automation workflows to streamline data collection, processing, and reporting.

  • Trend Tracking and Archiving:

Build and maintain a database to log trend data with supporting details, updated monthly, for quick reference and forecasting.

  • Continuous Improvement:

Conduct quarterly reviews of the research system, identifying new data sources, refining tools, and enhancing processes to improve trend analysis accuracy and streamline efforts across multiple product categories.

3. Cross-Functional Collaboration on Product Development

  • Support in Product Development:

Collaborate with the product development team to bring shortlisted product ideas to life, providing ongoing trend insights, competitor benchmarks, and additional research support until the product is market-ready.

  • Team Communication:

Serve as a reliable resource for the development team, regularly sharing research updates and providing support for product ideas contributed by other team members.

4. Monthly Market Recap and Competitor Overview

  • Market Recap Report:

At the beginning of each month, deliver a Market Recap and Competitor Overview for Luna, Fomin, and SuperGoods to inform development strategies.

  • Trend and Competitor Insights:

Include emerging trends, competitor activity, and Relevant consumer behavior shifts that could impact brand positioning or product development.

  • Product Suggestions (Optional):

When relevant, recommend product ideas that align with significant market opportunities or unmet demand.

5. Accuracy and Performance Tracking

  • Trend & Product Suggestion Accuracy:

Maintain an 80% accuracy rate in trend identification and product suggestions, with performance evaluated quarterly based on alignment with market success.

  • Quarterly Review:

Participate in a quarterly review to assess the effectiveness of trend forecasts, identify areas for refinement, and improve the accuracy of future trend-based recommendations.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Monthly Trend-Based Product Ideas Submission:

Present 10 product ideas with a comprehensive report on the first Monday of each month. At least 4 of these ideas should be viable and ready for potential production.

  • Monthly Market Recap and Competitor Overview:

Submit a recap for Luna, Fomin, and SuperGoods at the start of each month.

  • Trend & Product Suggestion Accuracy:

Maintain an 80% accuracy rate in trend forecasting and product suggestions, assessed quarterly.

  • Streamlined & Improved Research System:

Build a research system that can allow for 70%+ accuracy in early trend detection by utilizing multiple styles of data sets. Must embed automations to reduce reliance on manual entry and streamline efficiency and improve quality of research. By next appraisal, should have successfully built the foundations for this system and used it to produce some new product ideas.
