The Production Engineer is responsible for driving manufacturing efficiency, production scheduling, and process optimization within the SGV product line at Kinetic Pressure Control. This role ensures smooth coordination between engineering design, materials management, and shop floor execution to achieve production targets in safety, quality, cost, and delivery.

The Production Engineer serves as a technical and operational liaison between manufacturing, supply chain, and engineering teams to ensure timely and cost-effective production of pressure-control equipment and components critical for oilfield applications.

Key Responsibilities:

Manufacturing Planning & Execution

  • Develop and manage production schedules and capacity plans for the oilfield pressure-control product line, ensuring alignment with project timelines and stringent customer requirements.
  • Convert engineering designs, BOMs, and technical specifications into precise work orders, routing plans, and job travelers to maintain production accuracy.
  • Collaborate with supply chain and inventory teams to guarantee material availability, proactively identify shortages, and resolve bottlenecks affecting critical oilfield equipment production.
  • Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) closely through ERP systems, driving progress tracking and adherence to on-time delivery commitments.
  • Partner with the Production Manager to prioritize workload, optimize resource allocation, and balance manpower utilization across shifts and departments.

Process & Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze manufacturing workflows specific to pressure-control assemblies to identify efficiency gains, enhance safety protocols, and reduce production costs.
  • Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs), assembly instructions, and quality checklists tailored to the complexity and safety standards of pressure-control systems.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at cycle time reduction, process consistency, and waste elimination using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies relevant to oilfield manufacturing.
  • Provide technical guidance to design teams to improve manufacturability, simplify assembly processes, and enhance product serviceability under demanding field conditions.

Technical & Operational Support

  • Support manufacturing teams with expertise in troubleshooting, process optimization, and maintaining quality standards during assembly and testing phases of pressure-control components.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering to ensure design intent and rigorous oilfield standards are accurately translated into manufacturing and testing procedures.
  • Validate and implement engineering change orders (ECOs) carefully to minimize disruption and maintain compliance with certification and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC teams on nonconformance investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action plans focused on maintaining the reliability of pressure-control equipment.

Data, Reporting & Systems

  • Utilize ERP/MRP systems for accurate job tracking, production performance metrics, and detailed reporting focused on oilfield equipment manufacturing.
  • Maintain and continuously update technical manufacturing documentation including work instructions, process flow diagrams, and revision histories vital for compliance and traceability.
  • Track and analyze production KPIs such as on-time delivery, yield, scrap, and rework specific to pressure-control products, identifying trends and driving improvement actions.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all manufacturing activities comply with Kinetic Pressure Control’s HSE policies and critical industry standards pertaining to oilfield pressure-control equipment.
  • Champion a culture of safety, operational accountability, and teamwork essential for high-risk equipment manufacturing environments.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 3–5 years of manufacturing, production engineering, or planning experience specifically within oilfield equipment, subsea systems, or pressure-control environments.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, or similar) and production planning tools.

Technical Skills

  • Experience with CAD platforms such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD focused on pressure-control system component is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, tolerancing, assembly sequencing, and testing procedures unique to oilfield pressure-control devices.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and Six Sigma methods applied to precision oilfield equipment manufacturing.
  • Expertise in MRP, capacity planning, and workflow optimization tailored to the oilfield manufacturing sector.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills tailored to cross-functional teams in the oilfield manufacturing context.
  • Proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, technically demanding manufacturing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail critical for high-integrity pressure-control products.

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Frequent presence on the production floor to observe, support, and guide assembly and testing of oilfield pressure-control equipment.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional travel for supplier visits, field support, or customer liaison as required.
