Job Description – Production Manager

Role Purpose
To plan, organize, and control daily production across the Press Shop, Hydraulic Shop, Paint Shop, Spin-On Assembly and Element Assembly. The Production Manager ensures delivery of high-quality parts on time while minimizing downtime, reducing rejections, and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Planning & Scheduling
- Develop and execute daily/weekly production plans based on sales orders and priorities.
- Coordinate production flow between departments:
Press → Hydraulic → Paint → Assembly (Element, Spin-on) → Final QC & Packing
- Monitor WIP levels and adjust schedules to avoid bottlenecks.
- Ensure timely availability of raw materials and tooling.
2. Shop Floor Management
- Supervise supervisors and line leaders across all departments.
- Monitor machine performance, ensure machines are running at target uptime and speed.
- Resolve daily production issues (breakdowns, quality issues, manpower gaps).
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment (5S).
3. Quality & Process Control
- Ensure all departments meet quality standards for oil filters, air filters, and rubber parts.
- Implement in-process checks for:
- Pressed parts
- Drawn cans
- Powder-coated parts
- Element assembly
- Spin-on assembly
- Work with QC to reduce rejection rates and improve first-pass yield.
4. Coordination With Other Departments
- Work closely with:
- Sales → to meet delivery commitments
- Tool Room → for die maintenance and changeovers
- Maintenance → to reduce downtime
- Inventory → to ensure material availability
- Procurement → for urgent sourcing
- Report daily production status to the Director.
5. Team Leadership & Staff Development
- Lead a team of supervisors, operators, helpers, and material handlers.
- Train team members on SOPs, safety, and process improvements.
- Maintain discipline, manage attendance, and improve workforce productivity.
6. KPI Management
Responsible for meeting weekly and monthly KPIs:
- Production output vs plan
- Machine downtime
- Rejection rate
- On-time delivery
- Labor efficiency
- Cost per unit improvement
7. Continuous Improvement
- Implement lean manufacturing tools (5S, Kaizen, SMED, Kanban).
- Improve material flow between departments.
- Reduce changeover times and improve line balancing.
Qualifications Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (preferred).
- DAE Mechanical with strong experience may also be considered.
Experience
- 5–10+ years of experience in manufacturing (automotive, filters, rubber, or metal parts preferred).
- Must have experience managing multiple production departments.
- Experience with stamping, deep drawing, powder coating, assembly lines, and molding is a strong plus.

- Stabilize production schedule and eliminate daily firefighting
- Reduce rejections by at least 10%
- Improve on-time delivery to >95%
- Implement a simple daily production board system
- Train supervisors on consistent reporting
