An Exhibition Production Manager plans, budgets, and oversees the entire lifecycle of exhibitions, from design to installation and de-installation, coordinating teams (curators, designers, technicians, contractors) to ensure projects meet quality, budget, and tight deadlines, focusing heavily on logistics, technical execution (AV, lighting, construction), safety (HSE), and vendor management for a seamless, impactful visitor experience. Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesPlanning & Strategy
- Project Lifecycle: Lead planning for temporary, touring, and permanent exhibits, including design, fabrication, installation, and dismantling.
- Budget & Timeline: Develop and manage production budgets, secure bids, track costs, and ensure adherence to schedules.
- Collaboration: Work with curators, designers, operations, registrar, and education teams.
- Vendor Management: Source, vet, and manage freelance staff, contractors, and suppliers (fabricators, AV, lighting).
Execution & On-Site Management
- Technical Oversight: Supervise construction, lighting, audio-visual, and interactive elements.
- Installation/De-installation: Manage the physical build and strike, including art handling, mounting, and movement.
- Logistics: Coordinate venue preparation, infrastructure, and exhibitor operations.
- Problem-Solving: Address technical and logistical issues swiftly, often under pressure.
Quality & Compliance
- Standards: Implement and maintain museum/brand standards for quality, conservation, security, and environmental controls.
- HSE: Ensure health, safety, and security protocols are followed during all phases.
- Quality Control: Monitor outsourced work and internal production for adherence to standards.
