Production Manager – Large Format Printing & Digital
Position Summary
The Production Manager oversees all day-to-day operations in the Large-Format Printing
department and Digital department, ensuring jobs move efficiently from intake to final delivery.
This role requires a strong understanding of print production, equipment, substrates, color
management, scheduling, and workflow optimization. The Production Manager leads the
production team, focusing on quality, accuracy, speed, and exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Production Leadership & Workflow Management
- Manage the complete production process for large-format and gital print jobs, from prepress
to finishing and installation prep.
- Schedule daily workloads, assign tasks, and ensure deadlines are consistently met.
- Maintain a balanced production calendar to maximize capacity, reduce bottlenecks, and
meet customer turnaround expectations.
- Oversee quality control at every stage of production.
Team Management
- Supervise, train, and mentor production staff, including operators, finishers, and
installers.
- Ensure staff follow safety protocols, color standards, and equipment best practices.
- Conduct regular team meetings to review goals, address challenges, and reinforce
continuous improvement.
Equipment & Technology
- Oversee the operation of Large-Format flatbed printers, Roll-to-Roll printers, CNC
routers/cutters, laminators, digital presses, and finishing equipment.
- Ensure routine maintenance and coordinate service when needed to minimize downtime.
- Identify technology upgrades or process improvements that increase efficiency or output
quality.
Quality Assurance
- Enforce accurate proofing procedures, color calibration, and material handling practices.
- Troubleshoot print issues such as banding, color variance, substrate challenges, and
machine errors.
- Ensure all jobs meet company standards for print quality, accuracy, and finish.
Inventory & Vendor Coordination
- Manage inventory of materials, substrates, inks, and supplies.
- Forecast stock needs and work with vendors to ensure timely replenishment.
- Verify material quality and resolve any supplier issues.
Project Coordination & Customer Support
- Collaborate with sales, customer service, and design teams to clarify job specs and ensure
production feasibility.
- Communicate proactively when schedules need adjustment or if technical issues arise.
- Support client-specific standards, brand colors, and unique production requirements.
Compliance & Safety
- Maintain OSHA-compliant safety standards in all production areas.
- Ensure proper handling of inks, chemicals, and machinery.
- Train team on equipment safety, emergency procedures, and clean-workspace protocols
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
