Job Description – Production & Operations Engineer

Position Title: Assistant Manager Production & Operations

Department: Production / Manufacturing

Location: Karachi

Role Overview

The person in this position will be responsible for the complete day to day operations, strategic planning, organizing, and optimizing production activities in fabrication, machining, assembly, as well as coordinating with other departments and functional roles. Self-initiative will be expected that is inline with the overall improvement of the company. The role ensures that manufacturing processes run safely, efficiently, and meet quality standards. The production engineer must be the driving force behind quality improvements, increasing productivity of the plant, improve workflow efficiencies, and reduce costs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Production Planning & Control
  • Prepare daily/weekly production schedules.
  • Allocate jobs to machines, operators, and workstations.
  • Monitor progress and ensure timely delivery of orders.
  • Strong coordination with internal stakeholders and teams.
  • Inventory Planning
  • Process & Efficiency Improvement
  • Develop process flows, routings, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Conduct time studies and suggest improvements in tooling, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing principles (5S, waste reduction, Kaizen).
  • Technical Support
  • Support machining, fabrication, and welding teams with technical inputs.
  • Interpret drawings, tolerances, and provide clear work instructions.
  • Coordinate with design engineers for manufacturability feedback and documentation.
  • Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure products meet dimensional and functional requirements.
  • Work with the QC team to resolve non-conformities.
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Resource Management
  • Monitor material usage and reduce scrap/rework.
  • Support training of operators and helpers for skill development.
  • Ensure machines and tools are properly utilized and maintained.
  • Resource planning, scouting, and addition of right skilled labors.
  • Coordination & Reporting
  • Liaise with Design, Procurement, and Sales teams to align production.
  • Report on productivity, bottlenecks, and improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain documentation for production records, audits, and traceability.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education:
  • B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of machining, fabrication, and assembly processes.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Fusion 360).
  • Familiarity with Lean tools, 5S, and production planning systems.
  • Understanding of GD&T, tolerances, and welding quality standards.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good communication and leadership skills for shop floor supervision.
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
  • Growth mindset and willingness to continuously learn.

Experience

  • Preferred: 7+ years in a fabrication/machining environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Rs100,000.00 - Rs150,000.00 per month
