PRODUCTION PLANNING ENGINEER (NESTING AND MATERIAL COORDINATION)

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and manage daily and weekly production schedules based on job priorities and deadlines.
• Perform nesting operations for CNC cutting machines (e.g., plasma, laser, oxy-fuel) to optimize material utilization.
• Coordinate with the procurement and inventory teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials based on production needs.
• Review fabrication drawings and ensure necessary resources (material, manpower, machine time) are in place.
• Monitor machine efficiency, downtime, and productivity.
• Liaise with production floor supervisors and machine operators to troubleshoot delays or issues.
• Ensure proper documentation of job progress, material usage, and machine output.
• Collaborate with the design and detailing teams to ensure correct file formats and data for nesting.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical/Industrial/Production Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in production planning, preferably in a steel fabrication or manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in nesting software (e.g., Sigmanest, ProNest, Hypertherm, etc.).
• Good understanding of fabrication machines (CNC plasma, laser, bending, shearing, etc.).
• Strong skills in MS Excel, ERP/MRP systems, and production tracking tools.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and BOMs.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of lean manufacturing and process improvement.
• Experience working with ERP systems
• Familiarity with Tekla, AutoCAD, or other drafting software is an added advantage.
