Basic Job Functions:

The role of the Production Scheduler is to effectively schedule production for the melt shop and roll mill efficiently and communicate these activities effectively with the team. The position analyzes production specifications and capacity data to coordinate meeting customer orders and appropriate inventory levels. In addition, the position tracks and improves material programs including supply chain management and finished/semi-finished inventory planning by implementing forecasting and analytical tools.Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Understanding of and commitment to our Goal “To Take Care of Our Customer.”
  • Proficiency with Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data visualization)
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).
  • Previous production scheduling/planning experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience working cross functionally across various departments.
  • Willingness to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime, including weekends and holidays.
  • Proven record of accuracy in reporting and follow-through on deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of steelmaking processes (melting, casting, rolling, shipping and scheduling).
  • Experience in statistical analysis, forecasting, or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Comfortable building and presenting models or dashboards to non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated initiative, and an ability to identify anomalies.
