Production Supervisor

Job Summary:
Oversee end-to-end processes and procedures within the assigned section, ensuring smooth and efficient operations. Evaluate each stage of the production process to maintain optimum efficiency and productivity. Enforce all food safety, health & safety, and environmental policies on the production floor. Ensure optimal utilization of resources, including raw materials, packaging materials, manpower, and equipment.

Actively participate as a team member in trainings, workshops, root cause analysis (RCA) sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall productivity and promote safe operational practices. Monitor product inspections to ensure quality and accuracy prior to transfer to internal customers. Maintain effective communication between management and employees to ensure policies and procedures are clearly understood and consistently followed.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overall shift operations in the assigned production section, ensuring smooth coordination of all activities as the primary point of contact for supporting departments.
  • Executes daily production plans while anticipating upcoming requirements to ensure uninterrupted workflow and efficient production scheduling.
  • Ensures products are manufactured and packed in compliance with company specifications, maintaining strict adherence to quality, quantity, and food safety standards.
  • Coordinates closely with UHT processing, filling operations, data entry, RMS, QA, and maintenance teams to ensure seamless production execution and material availability.
  • Monitors production performance, including yield, losses, and reprocessing activities, ensuring optimal resource utilization and minimal wastage.
  • Supervises operators, assistants, and labor teams, providing technical guidance and ensuring effective task execution and issue resolution during operations.
  • Oversees equipment readiness, preventive maintenance coordination, breakdown reporting, and post-maintenance inspections to ensure operational reliability.
  • Ensures compliance with Health & Safety, Environment, Lean, and GMP standards while maintaining high levels of cleanliness and 5S across the production area.
  • Manages manpower planning, shift scheduling, training coordination, and employee relations, including handling operational HR-related issues.
  • Monitors production reports, QC data, KPIs, and audit requirements, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with internal and external standards.
  • Participates in continuous improvement initiatives, cost reduction activities, and loss reduction projects to enhance overall operational efficiency.
  • Supports internal and external audits and ensures the section consistently meets regulatory, quality, and operational requirements.
  • Promotes a disciplined, professional, and safety-focused working environment while mentoring team members and supporting their development.

Required Education and Experience :

  • Bachelor's degree
    in Dairy Science & Technology, Food Technology, or a related field.
  • Certification in Food Safety (HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000) is preferred
  • Additional training in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or 5S is an advantage
  • Minimum 3 years' experience working in any food manufacturing facility preferably dairy.

Required Professional Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team handling in high-volume FMCG/dairy production environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of dairy processing (UHT, pasteurization, homogenization) and packaging operations (e.g., Tetra Pak)
  • Solid understanding of food safety standards such as HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000, and hygiene practices
  • Experience in production planning, line balancing, and meeting tight production targets
  • Knowledge of quality control parameters specific to dairy (shelf life, microbiological and chemical standards)
  • Familiarity with CIP (Clean-In-Place) and sanitation processes
  • Strong coordination with cross-functional teams (maintenance, QA, warehouse)
  • Ability to monitor and improve yield, reduce wastage, and control production losses
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle) and production reporting
  • Problem-solving skills with focus on RCA and continuous improvement (Lean, 5S, Kaizen)
  • Ability to manage manpower in shift-based operations and ensure productivity
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance coordination for processing and packing equipment
  • Strong focus on HSE compliance in a food manufacturing environment
