Production Technician Lead

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?


Position Overview:

Provide day to day functional guidance to Production Technicians on the assigned shift, including helping prioritize tasks, clarifying expectations, and reinforcing safety and quality requirements. This position does not have formal disciplinary authority but plays a key leadership role in team coordination and shift performance. Assist in training other Production Technicians to perform fiberizing, textile, drying, packaging, and shipping operations.

Shift: 2nd or 3rd shift


Responsibilities

Leadership:

  • Communicate direction from management and ensure all team members understand priorities, expectations, and changes in production requirements.
  • Serve as the primary on‑shift point of contact for reporting operational concerns, quality issues, or equipment problems to management, and assist in coordinating timely resolution.
  • Monitor shift performance to ensure safety, quality, and production goals are met; escalate concerns proactively.
  • Model proper work practices, safety standards, and quality behaviors to set the tone for the shift.
  • Once fully trained, participate in training new team members and providing guidance to less experienced operators.
  • Support team engagement by promoting collaboration, problem‑solving, and continuous improvement.

Operations:

  • Operate the following with verbal or written instructions:
  • Hydrogen Welding Torch
  • Fiberizing Machines and Winding Chairs
  • First Twist Machine
  • Twist and Ply Machine
  • Drying Ovens
  • Roving Machine
  • Camera system for fiberizing
  • Perform some minor adjustments and/or maintenance tasks
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of the equipment
  • Measure product count and adjust as required to ensure product is within specification
  • Visually inspect the manufactured product to check if it meets the quality requirements.
  • Fill out Production Reports
  • Responsible for maintaining the shop cleanliness
  • Responsible for working within the shop safety procedures
  • Responsible for actively participating in the quality systems
  • Responsible for promoting and supporting the team concept
  • Other tasks as assigned

Quality and EHS Management Systems:

  • Apply the facility EHS rules and work safely using the 60 seconds to think.
  • Apply the facility Food and Drink Policy and other internal policies.
  • Apply the Saint-Gobain EHS Charter, EHS Policy and EHS Charter & Requirements.
  • Apply the documented procedures linked to the workplace.
  • Record the requested data linked to the workplace.
  • Make sure the instruments (scale or equipment) conform to the calibration rules before use.
  • Identify and address the non-conforming product according to the communicated rules.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Lead by example in identifying opportunities for improvement and encouraging team participation in continuous improvement activities.
  • Act as a shift representative during problem solving discussions and help communicate findings and corrective actions to team members.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement meetings, type World Class Manufacturing (WCM).
  • Participate in the training and awareness sessions.
  • Report the events relating to quality, environment, health, safety and production.
  • Participate in the Root Cause Analysis and resolution.
  • Support the training process.

IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?


Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Computer skills for production data entry, required
  • QAD experience, a plus
  • Minimum of three to five years of experience with mixing/blending/pressing operations, preferred.
  • A solid understanding in the use of personal protective equipment working hour high heat.
  • Attention to detail that includes excellent manual dexterity, patience, and problem-solving skills needed to produce contamination-free welds.
  • Familiar with specialized equipment such as oxygen torches.
