The Professional Development & Integration Manager will work closely with the Legal Recruiting & Professional Development (LR&PD) team, our Professional Development partners, and other internal stakeholders to oversee key functions such as attorney integration, attorney training programs, CLE, performance management, mentoring, on-boarding, and continued engagement (retention).
Responsibilities and Duties:

Report to the Director of LR&PD and liaise with the Senior Manager of LR&PD and the partners in charge of professional development to strategize and meet department and firm goals in regard to all attorney onboarding, training, integration, evaluation and retention activities. Partner with firm leadership to ensure PD initiatives align with long-term talent strategy, succession planning, and attorney retention goals across all offices

Build professional relationships with the partners and establish credibility as a trusted resource to support leadership goals. Serve as a strategic advisor on associate development, training priorities, and evolving competency expectations

Oversee the end-to-end integration process for all incoming lateral partners and attorneys, ensuring a seamless, high-touch onboarding experience, including close coordination with the HR, IT, Marketing & BD (“MBD”), and Workplace Culture & Opportunity (“WCO”) teams. Implement structured 30/60/90-day and 6-month integration check-ins for lateral hires, including tailored onboarding paths for lateral partners

Partner with MBD and other internal stakeholders to develop and execute individualized integration plans aligned with practice group priorities, business development goals, and firm leadership expectations

Monitor integration progress through regular check-ins, milestones, and performance touchpoints; prepare reports and recommendations for firm leadership and maintain integration metrics (patterns, outcomes, etc.) to identify trends and enhance future lateral hiring and retention efforts. Leverage talent analytics dashboards to identify integration success indicators, emerging risks, and opportunities to strengthen the onboarding experience

Coordinate orientation programming and ensure timely completion of mandatory trainings and onboarding requirements

Work closely with Director of LR&PD to implement and manage bi-annual attorney review process, including enhancements to evaluation tools, processes, communications and training. Provide reviewer training for partners and counsel on competency-based evaluations, effective feedback, and bias reduction

Maintain and update competencies to reflect emerging client expectations, market changes, and evolving practice-area needs

Evaluate firm training programs and identify any gaps that should be added to ensure lawyers have comprehensive skillset. Build level-based curricula for associates and counsel, incorporating blended learning, hands-on workshops, and e-learning modules

Develop and implement annual training calendar, incorporating input from PD partners and Director and Senior Manager of LR&PD, including bi-annual associate bootcamp programs and staple programs such as bias interrupters as they relate to the evaluation and hiring process. Measure training effectiveness through evaluations, participation trends, learning assessments, and post-program feedback

Work with CLE Administrator to build a robust in-house training schedule to provide CLE approved learning opportunities

Recommend resources and provide strategic coaching and guidance to address development needs. Monitor progress for all associates. Provide career coaching and support attorneys in creating individualized development plans (IDPs)

Manage mentor program, which includes mentor assignments, regular check-in meetings, and developing/executing regular team-building events. Expand mentoring infrastructure to include peer mentoring, sponsorship models, and affinity-based or practice-specific mentoring initiatives

Partner with HR to develop PD training and opportunities for business professional team

Partner with the WCO Manager on assessing employee engagement needs and developing initiatives to enhance engagement and Firm culture

Oversee PD-related technology platforms (e.g., LMS, evaluation software, CLE tracking tools), ensuring accurate data, user training, and continuous process improvement. Identify new learning technologies and innovations that enhance digital learning delivery and talent data insights

Develop and manage PD program budgets. Conduct ROI analyses for major programs and ensure resource allocation aligns with firm priorities

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

An advanced degree, such as a J.D., is highly preferred
-
3+ years of practicing as an attorney or related work experience in law firm PD or Integration is preferred

Excellent written, organizational and communication skills, computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)

Experience with Micron CE, viEval and PLI are a plus

Position Details
This is a full-time, benefits eligible, exempt level position. Final rate of pay and title will be commensurate with the incumbent’s experience, with a targeted starting salary of $160,000 - $180,000+ (the upper range reserved for highly qualified applicants). This position is currently available in either our NY or DC office locations.
