Professional Development Teacher (UFIT)

Position Type: Part-time Contractor
Reports to: Professional Development Coordinator / Leadership Team
Department: Training, Onboarding & Staff Development
Location: UFIT Headquarters & On-site School Locations

Role Purpose

The Professional Development (PD) Teacher ensures every new UFIT coach is properly trained and onboarded into the organization. This role introduces new hires to UFIT’s curriculum, culture, expectations, and operational procedures through a structured training program that combines classroom instruction, hands-on field experience, and onboarding compliance tasks.

The PD Teacher helps new team members develop confidence in delivering structured recess, sports-based SEL sessions, conflict resolution techniques, and maintaining safety and professionalism on school campuses.

This role directly contributes to UFIT’s mission of creating safe, structured, and inclusive play environments while elevating the quality and consistency of every UFIT coach who enters a school.

Core Responsibilities Training & Facilitation

  • Facilitate new-hire Professional Development (PD) training sessions (classroom + field training).
  • Teach UFIT’s core training modules:
  • Structured recess systems and programming
  • SEL and sports integration curriculum
  • Restorative practices and conflict resolution
  • Student safety, incident reporting, and field accountability
  • UFIT culture, expectations, and professionalism
  • Demonstrate coaching best practices and provide real-time feedback.

Onboarding & Compliance

  • Guide new hires through the full onboarding process, including:
  • Completion of onboarding documents and required HR forms
  • Livescan / fingerprinting verification
  • Required certifications and mandatory trainings (e.g., TB test verification, mandated reporting)
  • Uniform expectations, scheduling, and campus readiness
  • Ensure each hire completes the UFIT Onboarding Checklist and is properly documented before being assigned to a school site.
  • Coordinate with internal departments (HR, Scheduling, Site Leads) to confirm readiness and deployment.

**Curriculum & Training Development**

  • Follow UFIT’s PD curriculum; contribute feedback and improvements.
  • Assist in creating training materials (slides, videos, binders, role-play scenarios).
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement of content and delivery standards.

Performance Evaluation

  • Observe and score trainee performance using UFIT rubrics and competency checklists.
  • Track trainee progress: attendance, engagement, performance, and assessments.
  • Provide constructive verbal and written feedback to support growth.
  • Recommend hiring decisions in collaboration with PD Coordinator and Leadership.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Meet weekly with the PD Coordinator to discuss trainee status and training quality.
  • Communicate progress, concerns, and readiness to the Leadership Team.
  • Represent UFIT professionalism and company culture at all times.

Success Metrics (How Performance Will Be Measured)

  • Completion and accuracy of onboarding documentation and compliance.
  • Trainee completion and coach readiness score.
  • Trainee performance on PD rubric evaluations.
  • Trainee satisfaction and feedback scores.
  • Coach performance after deployment (as measured by Site Leads and school administrators).
  • Ability to deliver PD consistently, aligned to UFIT values and curriculum.

Qualifications Required

  • Experience leading professional development, coaching, or teaching adults or youth.
  • Strong behavior management skills and a confident instructional presence.
  • Excellent verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to give clear, supportive, constructive feedback.
  • Must pass Megan’s Law check, drug test, and background check.
  • Current TB clearance.
  • Live Scan background check (at candidate’s expense).

Preferred

  • PE, coaching, kinesiology, SEL programming, school-site experience.
  • Familiarity with restorative practices and conflict resolution.
  • Experience in onboarding or training staff.

Work Schedule

  • PD and onboarding schedule varies based on hiring cycle
  • Typical training cohort: ~30 hours per week when active (may include classroom + field)
  • Additional hours may be offered for onboarding, curriculum development, or evaluations
