Fayetteville Technical Community College is recruiting for a new member to join our Marketing and Communications teams and now accepting applications for a full-time Professional Photographer!

The Professional Photographer is highly creative and marketing minded, producing compelling visual content that elevates the College’s brand and supports strategic recruitment, retention, and community engagement initiatives. This role is central to developing high impact photography and shortform video content used across promotional materials, including annual reports, program brochures, recruiting campaigns, newsletters, digital advertising, and social media.
The Professional Photographer is a visual storyteller who understands how strong imagery drives marketing outcomes in higher education.

Duties
Essential Duties—Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Marketing Photography and Video Production:
  • Capture, edit, and assist with producing high-quality photography and shortform video (Reels, Shorts, TikTok) that supports marketing campaigns, student recruitment, program promotion, and institutional storytelling.
  • Create visual assets for use in annual reports, program brochures, newsletters, advertising, and digital marketing initiatives.
Studio and On-Location Photography:
  • Photograph a wide range of subjects and environments, including:
    • Academic programs and hands-on learning
    • Student life and campus culture
    • Faculty and staff portraits
    • Campus facilities, architecture, and events
    • Athletics, ceremonies, and community engagement activities and other campus events
  • Produce imagery that aligns with brand standards and is suitable for high-end print and digital collateral.
Visual Branding and Creative Direction:
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to conceptualize visual narratives that strengthen the College’s brand identity.
  • Ensure all imagery supports strategic messaging and enhances the impact of promotional materials.
Image Processing and Postproduction:
  • Import, edit, retouch, and prepare images for print and digital use using advanced editing techniques.
  • Restore archival or historical images as needed.
  • Maintain consistent color, tone, and quality across all marketing assets.
Digital Asset Management:
  • Organize, catalog, and archive photography assets for efficient retrieval.
  • Maintain file structures and ensure images integrate seamlessly with digital asset management systems.
Coordination and Project Planning:
  • Schedule and coordinate photoshoots for marketing campaigns, publications, and special projects.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director for Marketing and Communications, media staff, faculty, and graphic designers to plan and execute conceptual illustration photo shoots.
  • Assist with equipment upgrades, workflow improvements, and software updates.
Equipment Maintenance:
  • Maintain, clean, and ensure readiness of all photographic, video, and lighting equipment.
Technical Proficiency:

  • Expertise in digital photography, lighting, composition, and post production workflows.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and related editing tools.
Minimum Qualifications
  • An Associate’s degree from an accredited college in Photography, Digital Media, Visual Communications, or a closely related field is required.
  • Minimum of two years of professional photography experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in commercial, portrait, editorial, or photojournalistic photography with a strong digital portfolio showcasing marketing-oriented work.
Preferred Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Photography, Digital Media, Communications, or a closely related field is preferred.
