Clinical Support ServicesOverview of Position:
Responsible for the review, revision, and oversight of organizational patient care policies and all required activities related to policy management to ensure nursing practice meets Ohio law, accreditation standards, and patient safety standards set by accrediting bodies and the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Patient care and nursing practice policy oversight, review, and revisions as required by the accrediting body
2. Nurse Practice Committee facilitator
3. Organizational committee member (e.g. Nursing informatics) as it relates to policy oversight, nursing practice, and patient safety
4. Works closely with the Director of Nursing Support Services as co-owner of ACHC Chapter 16 Nursing Services to ensure nursing practice and policies meet accreditation requirements
5. Responsible for participating in, communicating, and ensuring education is in place for changes in nursing practice
6. Participates in and oversees nursing quality indicator software, data entry, data extraction and communication of performance
7. Work closely with Legal Services as needed to ensure nursing practice is safe and legal
8. Effectively prepares reports and correspondence within specified time frames involving synthesizing information, writing text, and preparing final communications.
9. Maintains an effective system for managing and retrieving information to enhance operational efficiency (policy files are organized and up to date).
10. Demonstrates understanding of operational issues in areas of responsibility, providing support as needed for providers, leaders, and staff.
11. Participates in interdisciplinary development of evidence-based patient standards of care and the collection and analysis of patient outcomes.
12. Develops, implements, and evaluates systems and processes that complement the overall system for performance improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor's in Nursing or an Associate's with equivalent experience.
2. Current Ohio RN License.
3. Two (2) years of previous inpatient acute care experience required.
4. CPR certification required or obtained within 30 days of employment.
5. Knowledge of medical terminology, levels of care, treatment modalities, and the present health care delivery system.
6. High degree of skill in interpersonal relations with the ability to deal effectively on a one-to-one and group basis with physicians, nursing staff, administration, and other hospital departments.
7. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
8. Ability to manage multiple projects at one time.
9. Ability to coach employees and promote nursing excellence.
10. Strong strategic and critical thinking skills with ability to foster teamwork and process change.
11. Self-motivated and able to complete assigned tasks with minimal direction.

1. Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
2. Will travel to all floors. May be required to drive to other locations. Answers telephone calls, uses personal computer, other business machines and medical equipment, which require the ability to apply finger dexterity. Individual bends, reaches, pushes and pulls.
3. Regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
4. Vision abilities required include up close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
5. Required to rotate shifts and regular days off. All system employees must be willing to work all shifts, extra hours, holidays and emergency shifts as required.
