Program Director – Short-Term AI Courses

We are a small university based in San Jose, CA, dedicated to providing cutting-edge, short-term courses (32 units) focused on emerging technologies like AI, creative applications, and more. Our goal is to equip learners with practical, hands-on skills that they can immediately apply in their personal or professional projects.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Program Director to lead the creation and delivery of our short-term course catalog. This role requires a visionary educator who can design engaging, high-quality courses, oversee instruction, and adapt offerings based on learner demand and emerging trends. The Program Director will work both remotely and in-person to manage course development, teaching, and program strategy, with limited international travel required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Course Development: Design, structure, and continuously update a catalog of short-term courses, including topics such as AI for Coding, AI for Medicine, and other emerging applications.
- Instruction & Facilitation: Deliver high-quality instruction both online and in-person, ensuring an engaging and effective learning experience.
- Curriculum Management: Develop syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, and assessment methods tailored for short-term courses.
- Program Strategy: Analyze market trends and learner feedback to identify new course opportunities and prioritize offerings based on demand.
- Instructor Oversight: If needed, recruit, train, and mentor adjunct instructors to support course delivery.
- Quality Assurance: Maintain high standards of teaching and learning outcomes, ensuring courses meet industry relevance and learner expectations.
- Community Engagement: Build and maintain an active learning community among students, encouraging collaboration, networking, and practical application of skills.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in curriculum design, program management, or instructional leadership.
- Expertise in AI applications and creative technologies (e.g., coding, film-making, digital media).
- Strong teaching or training experience with both online and in-person audiences.
- Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to innovate and adapt course offerings based on emerging trends and learner needs.
- Familiarity with e-learning platforms, tools, and content delivery systems is a plus.
