Program Assistant

Program Assistant Job Description

Working in partnership with underserved schools, Reading Power provides one-to-one tutoring during the school day for children in preschool through second grade. Our mission is to accelerate children's literacy learning and to develop a love of reading and writing. The Program Assistant plays a critical role in ensuring the day-to-day success of Reading Power’s tutoring programs. This position will provide administrative and logistical support to Program Leadership to maintain consistent, high-quality program implementation across multiple school sites.

Responsibilities:

Program Operations

● Coordinate ordering, distribution, and tracking of supplies across all program sites

● Organize and manage inventory of program materials and storage systems

● Prepare student-specific learning materials aligned with program needs

● Transport program materials and travel between sites as needed (ability to lift 30lbs)

Site Support

● Provide onsite support for staff and/or tutor absences to maintain program continuity

● Communicate regularly with program staff to anticipate needs and resolve issues proactively Data & Administrative Support

● Track and acknowledge in-kind program donations

● Support accurate data entry and organization to ensure student progress and program outcomes are effectively tracked

Qualifications:

● Bachelor’s Degree preferred; background in education or early childhood preferred

● Strong organizational skills with close attention to detail

● Strong communication skills, with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset

● Ability to work independently and take initiative

● Proficiency with technology and Google Workspace

● Commitment to Reading Power’s mission and values

Position Details

● Part-time, approximately 20 hours per week; Hourly rate range: $23-$25/hour

● Schedule aligned with school-day programming hours

● Possibility of minimal events outside normal working hours
